I'm surprised that screw job doesn't come up more often. We got screwed royally....and on the heels of our offense making them look silly.
We also had several games at Ole Miss that were pretty blatant homer calls.

It's because we had so much more work to do. I agree our offense had their defense on the ropes and we earned a lot of respect from the Longhorn Nation, but we had a minute to score and get a two-point conversion. Then, we'd have to win in overtime.
Two missed field goals did us in pretty hard too. I would have liked to have gone on fourth instead.
I will say that we had one of the best goal-line stands I have ever seen from our team in that game. Not sure many other teams could have done it:
1st and Goal at ARST 3 Jamaal Charles rush for no gain to the ArkSt 3.
2nd and Goal at ARST 3 Jamaal Charles rush for 2 yards to the ArkSt 1.
3rd and Goal at ARST 1 Jamaal Charles rush for no gain to the ArkSt 1.
4th and Goal at ARST 1 Jamaal Charles rush for no gain to the ArkSt 1.

That was classic!!! The best series of the game.

and that was 2x in that game, you guys had a 14pt lead, we came back, you went up again and we came back, that was an intense game!
Yep. A great game and the least memorable game as an FIU fan indeed. It was exhausting, bitter, and great at the same time.

RE: Your Least Memorable Game
1986: U(S)L vs. Oklahoma State
They had Mike Gundy at QB, Hart Lee Dykes at WR and Thurman Thomas at RB. Barry Sanders was also on that team, but didn't play that night.
Cajuns blocked a punt and recovered in the end zone for a 20-9 lead with just over two minutes to go. But OSU returned the ensuing kickoff for a TD to cut it to 20-15 (2 pt conversion failed.)
Cajuns went 3 and out, forcing OSU to use their timeouts. OSU drove down and with time a serious issue, Gundy hit Dykes on a short pass over the middle. He got hit so hard he dropped the ball, which stopped the clock. Had he caught the pass and been tackled, Cajuns win. INstead, Gundy hit Dykes in the corner of the end zone to give OSU a 21-20 win. I went home and threw up.
Incidently, that was Nelson Stokley's first game as head coach. We went 6-5, losing 21-20 to Okla State, 21-20 to Ole Miss, and 42-39 to Tulane.
Some fans remember the embarassing losses. But for me, the ones that didnt quite happen hurt the most.

OUCH! stAte lost squeakers to TAMU, Kansas, and Ole Miss in the 80s, but they weren't all in the same season!
