Former South Alabama WR Courtney Smith makes his debut with the Jets tonight.
He'll be wearing number 3.

Derek Newton will be blocking for the Texans. #75
We have had a pretty good preseason so far for ASU players in the league.
M.D. Jennings had a couple tackles, a pass deflection, and an INT in his first outing for Green Bay.
Alex Carrington who was drafted last year has put on 20 lbs and was lined up as an OLB. Had a sack, TFL, pass deflected, and three tackles.
Marcus Brown who was a free agent and earned a roster spot last year with the Seahawks had three tackles. He was quoted as being possibly the fastest player on the Seahawks roster.
Corey Williams had a sack but he's a starter for the Lions so it's expected. David Johnson and Bryan Hall didn't really do anything of merit for the Steelers or Ravens.
It still pains me to see the Raiders box score every time I'm reviewing the weekend's games. For anyone who doesn't know the story of Oren O'neal. He was a FB for ASU. Son of a preacher and grew up in a poor family in Stuttgart, AR. He walked on at ASU and before he could earn a scholarship spot, we fired Joe Hollis and brought in Steve Roberts. Roberts was unfamiliar with Oren but Oren kept on working. He would stay on friend's floors and would eat chicken wings from Wal-Mart to keep the bulk. He ended up getting a scholarship due to his hard work, but was diagnosed with a lung issue that required draining and kept him sidelined. He kept working and became one of our top blockers. Then he gets drafted late by the Raiders and during his rookie season he was named the Raiders' rookie of the year over Jamarcus Russell. He was noted for his thunderous blocks. However, during preseason of his second season in the league, he got blindsided on a special teams play and tore up his knee in three places. The coach at the time said it was one of the worst knee injuries he had ever seen. Oren battled back, but was never 100% and after being sidelined through the entire 2010 season, he was let go this past spring.
Not sure if he will ever get his career back on track, but he definitely is one of my favorite ASU players of all time.
