Everything I am about to post will be rendered meaningless Wednesday as new Louisiana unis and helmets will be unveiled that day.

But, until now, the Cajun Nation has been a divided camp. There are those who like and believe in the Tr-Fleur as our new Emblem. I am one of them. Then, there are those who despise it and think it is girly to put flowers on your helmets.

Recent Super Bowl champions and NCAA National champions beg to differ.

The current helmets are putrid. There are only a few schools nationwide who choose to spell out their nicknames on their helmets. All of them look wordy and boring.

The Tri-Fleur is on the Acadiana Flag, the UL seal and has been linked to the Cajun People specifically since 1604.

I am convinced that it will be on the helmets one day, just not this Wednesday.

I agree it should be part of your design.

I like FAU's as well and the latest Troy design. I like ULL's after those two. I honestly don't know what USA's looks like.

I don't think our helmets are as effective as they could be.

The logo is sharp but it's just missing some more color. Maybe a blue stripe or a blue facemask?

Stripes would help a lot. If it were my choice, I would use the "SA" logo that our baseball team uses. Here is what it could look like:

I actually like the Jags helmets. Its a simple, clean logo. And the style is unique.

I'll go with State too.

IIRC, there's some kind of trademark issue with the SA, but I think I like the Jag head better anyway. It might look a little better with a red-blue-red stripe down the middle.

FAU text wings, seventh season

FIU 4th season since addition of the panther

RAGIN CAJUN 13th season of some variation of the full text

Hawk head. 6th season

MT 13th season of MT plus the horse and lightining

NORTH TEXAS 11th season since the text went on, 7th of non-script text.

Troy Shield. 8th season of the shield (I like this logo, a nice upgrade)

Towel. 9th season it is the primary helmet logo, only significant change has been the helmet shell color.

I think that branding stability is a nice development. There have been tweaks (for example font size and colors) but a person snatched by aliens out of the stands at Cajun Field in 1999, could be shown today's helmet and not pause for a second recognizing it today.

There's been some form of the MT on the side of the helmet pretty steady since 1979 and for a period of time under Coach Murphy in the sixties I believe. I don't particularly think the lightning logo on the MT is something that most fans would miss if removed from the MT on the helmet. Simpler is better in this case I think.

Having grown up in the midstate and being exposed to a coaching change every four or five years at vanderbilt, the helmet design was changed just as often, indicating a lack of tradition, imo. I like as little change to helmets - if you got something good, why change it.

That's a good throwback helmet. I like it. I'm a vintage guy when it comes to helmets. However, when it comes to jerseys, I'm more than likely to support some changes.

USA's got a good start to a logo....they just need to beef up those lines. They're way too 'weak'.

What I hate about ours is that our logo is directional. We turn the horse around so that it is facing forward, so we have a lame logo on one side. I wouldn't mind dropping the horse from the helmet. Mainly for this reason.

I like the all white as well with our current uniforms. We have a traditional look and with that less is more when it comes to face mask colors and helmet stripes.

I am really partial to the "throwback helmet". That is well, because I made it. However, IMO when you start adding helmet stripes and changing face mask color you would have to change up the uni to match. I doubt that ever happens because we would look eerily similar to FAU.

problem with MT is the MT stands out nice, but the logo really does not and unless you are right on it, you can't see what it is. A logo should always work really small, and when it is on a helmet and you are 30 yards away.... it is small.

USA is the same problem, to thin of an outline, from a distance can't see it.
