It's easy for me. You guys and the CUSA board talk football 12 months a year. CAA, not so much. Sub divisions aside I would rather be in a football first league. Period.

USU can bring NCAA units and not a lot else.

I still believe MWC is done unless the Big East makes a move to 12 that costs them a team.

When asked about the MWC's territory after the departures of TCU, BYU, and Utah, the commissioner stated that the conference's eastern edge is still Texas. With two top ten media markets, and one of the top football recruitng territories in the country, It would not make financial sense for the MWC to ignore the state of Texas.

When the BCS decides the status of the new MWC, they will look to add Houston and SMU. It could be a year or two. If they are granted some form of preliminary AQ status, then Houston and SMU will join. Odds are the MWC gets no sort of AQ status, and Houston and SMU stay in C-USA. Then the MWC would look to find some combination of schools that would give them 12 teams and increase revenue. One of the teams in that combination will be from Texas.

If CCUSA get raided then I think that the Belt and the remaining schools would make a great conference by merging------I-10, I-20 and other North-South Interstate travels will save bunches as Odumbo uses more oil imports!!!!

It's not so much a matter of the MWC ignoring the state of Texas as it is a matter of the state of Texas ignoring the MWC, now that it is depleted of BYU, Utah, and TCU. What's left is just not that impressive.

Indeed.

The problem with the concept of Houston/SMU or whoever switching to the Mountain is that if the Mountain is good enough to get AQ, then they don't want Houston/SMU. And if the Mountain is not good enough to get AQ, then Houston/SMU doesn't want them. Yet there is no "middle ground" where anyone can seriously claim that the Mountain's current/pending 10 members aren't good enough to get AQ on their own, but would be if only Houston/SMU would join. That is simply absurd. Therefore, the status quo will hold.

If and when the WAC desolves doe anyone think UTSA and Texas State will wind up in the Sun Belt? Going out on a limb here, but I predict both schools will be members of the Belt in 5 years (2016).

maybe Texas State, but not UTSA.

Both may eventually do well, but UTSA has a much greater upside. They have not done anything yet, but they are in a million plus city with no local football competition. TSSM is a stone throw from the mighty UT and in a relatively small town. TSSM has a head start and will likely be better for a while but conferences are going to be much more excited about UTSA if they get significant support. I think both being so close to each other is going to make their start up slower.
