We need more pics to verify these outrageous claims.

RE: UNT verse FAU Stadium (Random Thoughts)
FAU stadium kinda reminds me of SMU's Ford field except its steel instead of concrete... I just like how New MG stadium will have a unique factor....hate all you want Sunbelt but as long as there are asses in seats that tail wing endzone is going to look real nice. I do like FAU's stadium as 2nd in the Sunbelt.... we are both miles ahead of everyone except Troy

RE: UNT verse FAU Stadium (Random Thoughts)
I love SMU's stadium. I think its one of the best small stadiums. but actually SMU's stadium is steal framework. The lower bowl is below grade built on a concrete base, but the entire upper bowl is a steel framwork w/ alluminum decking and seating. The stadium is surrouded by a brick and motar facade. As someone posted above the facade around the 'erector set' improves the look of the stadium greatly

Im "assuming" that FAU is going to facade the steel framework. It looks that way in the picture in my Sig, and so far FAU has done everything thats in there.

I think the atmosphere is going to look incredible. The "Between the Palms" theme is REALLy being played out all over. The Stadium cam just showed 20+ palm trees beind delieved and everything will have a "tropical" theme to it.

It may very wel be the most "themed" stadiuim in NCAA.

wow intresting, ive been to Ford Field several times and never noticed that.... they should use the same facade at FAU becuz i had no idea they built Ford Field with Steel Framing. It looks solid with all the bricking they did. Its really a nice stadium. FAU i guess did a good job after all. Cant wait to see them on ESPN2.

That might be an outsider's perception, but the median age of Boca Raton (surrounding communities are younger) is 40 or less.

Don't forget the great # of women in the area that workout plus the great plastic surgery. Even the moms are hot in Boca.
Regarding tailgating: There is plenty of great tailgating space adjacent to FAU's stadium. Nobody will tailgate better than Owl fans. Boca's always ready for a party. Don't want to tailgate, places like Hooters, the Ale House Bru's Room, etc. aren't far away. What to do on Friday night before the Saturday game? Start at the Bull Bar and pubcrawl down Delray's Atlantic Ave. to Boston's on the Beach.

03-lmfao No offense to the FAU faithful, but the best tailgating in the conference belongs to the Cajuns followed closely by Middle Tennessee.

Im actually very nervous about tailgating in the new stadium and on FAU's campus. Folks are starting to ask questions about parking, what time they can get in, etc. I FULLY expect the 1st year of this to be an epic screwup.

I would like to think that FAU reached out to its fellow confrence mates and formulated a plan but who knows?!?!

I only know one thing, all these lil things are VERY nice problems to have since it means were finally home. 02-13-banana

I actually had a decent time tailgating at Lockhart in 2007, FAU can build something great around the new stadium, but as far as Sun Belt tailgating at present goes, Cajuns and Blue Raiders are on a different level.

RE: UNT verse FAU Stadium (Random Thoughts)
Well, they had 3,300 plus show up last night at FAU's soccer stadium to see the Magic Jack womens soccer team and sounds like traffic was bad. I cant imagine what its going to be like having hopefully 20K+ on campus for Football games.

I have a freind who is a Boca Raton Police officer and he says the city has its plans in place for traffic so we shall see.

Is traffic bad at other 'Belt stadiums on campus? I'm sure it must be.

I'd go to a Magic Jack game, wouldn't mind watching Hope Solo in person...

As far as postgame traffic at MT goes, yeah it's pretty bad, but I usually hang around the stadium a little longer to enjoy the band after the game and where we tailgate is actually pretty convenient to an exit from campus, so it's never that bad for me personally, but anytime I've had to leave campus in a rush, it's been a nightmare.

I wonder if there's any on campus stadium where traffic isn't a nightmare immediately after the game? Like you, I return to our tailgate area and pull out the chair, the cooler, and with fellow tailgaters turn on the radio for the post game and call in shows... by the time that's done, traffic is fairly reasonable and no problem to negotiate.

I think the worst pregame traffic I ever saw was at Kentucky and the worst postgame was at Clemson.

RE: UNT verse FAU Stadium (Random Thoughts)
I wholeheartedly believe that these will be the two nicest stadiums in the Sunbelt. However, I do believe that there is something to be said for concrete construction verses metal. I know facades can be put up so that the erector set look is somewhat covered, but I really believe as far as quality goes, concrete is the better option in the long run. Therefore I believe UNT will have the better stadium. But I must say having all the chair backs was an extremely smart idea on FAU's side. Also, I'm in love with all of the color the FAU stadium has. Brilliant ideas there.

At FAU, they'll be pulling up in the Mercedes/BMW/Porsche SUVs with their bottles of Cristal and Grey Goose with prepaid platters from Joseph's and Whole Foods. Of course they'll bring the Au Pair along to help serve and manage the kids.03-lmfao

I hear this all the time, but no one yet has told me why.

Why do people feel that concrete is better then steel?

I think it is more "perception" than anything, the concrete perceives to be longer lasting, looks more permanent. But both have pluses and minuses, but I don't think you can say one is better than the other, they are just 2 different building materials.

concrete vs steel article
