* Some Troy fans will argue otherwise based on how "bad" our defense was, but what some don't know is that Troy ranked 2nd in conference play on defense last season, behind FIU.

On paper, FIU should win the conference, but they'll have a lot of pressure. I think Troy and Arkansas State will wind up splitting the title, and either one could be on the top end of the title.

1. Arkansas State

Any of these three teams could win the conference though. ULM and MTSU being the darkhorses. Even though MTSU is our biggest rival, I'd really like to see them do something this year. The conference needs it. For some reason, the media loves MTSU and have always wanted them to be the league's premier team. Now they need to step it up.
