I am probably the most passionate Tech fan you will find, but I also realize we are gonna have to play nice with the SBC in order to stay afloat. I want to stay in the WAC and realize that it will take a few years before our new teams step up, but the SBC has. Some teams I would like to play.

I am a TROY fan, not a UNT fan, so why did you bring them up in reference to me? I have never posted on your WAC board. I can't control what others do on boards I never read. My previous statement still rings true.

sorry, but I don't see why the Sunbelt has supposedly given an open invite to La Tech...don't see them adding much value, esp since ULL and ULM are already in the conference...
if Sunbelt ever looks at moving to 12 teams, i would think UTSA and Tex St would be top 2 choices of FBS squads...
i would also think that getting Charlotte (big market) and App State (football tradition) to upgrade and join the Sunbelt would be a coup...

so, in summary, WAC has 2 good candidates to poach and FCS has a few...but not La Tech...and not New Mex St

What the heck are you talking about? Do you know ANYTHING about the Sun Belt?

and the fact you called UTSA and Texas State FBS programs is pretty funny considering they have NEVER played an FBS game.

In response to some more ideas for adding start-ups to the sunbelt:

Our football conference has been around ten or so years, and in FBS football, we have teams that have been playing football for more than one hundred years. For this reason, I will never, understand the logic behind wanting to add teams that have never played a down in college football, or have had only had a year or two of football. The few I can think of, are FAU, FIU, and USA. And while they have showed promise, the jury's still out. I don't feel like waiting out the next five to ten years for these upstarts to make some noise, while during that period they drag the conference down and make us look bad. That said I like what I see from "newer" programs such as USA and FIU, but we'll have to wait to see if they'll be long term contributors. In my opinion, the risk is far greater than the reward for adding start-up teams, typically based solely upon what market they're in. Give me a break.

I don't believe that years playing football equates to success. I think the most important thing is the fan bases desire for a good program. FAU has decent fan support in terms of the program, thought attendance could be better but that's true for all of us. They have done well in bowl games. They have a desirable location to recruits. If a school has all of these and the school staff etc are commited then why not?
