SAN ANTONIO — Authorities say a shootout along the Texas-Mexico border involving U.S. federal agents and an elite team of Texas Rangers has injured at least three suspected drug runners.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said in a brief statement that U.S. agents came under heavy fire from the Mexican side Thursday morning as they tried to seize a drug load. The statement did not indicate that any U.S. law enforcement officers were injured.

DPS spokeswoman Tela Mange said the shootout took place in Hidalgo County, about 240 miles south of San Antonio. She would not release additional details.

DPS said the shootout began after a suspicious vehicle on the U.S. side of the Rio Grande was spotted along with two boats that authorities suspected were being used to transport drugs.

They'll probably send the agents to jail. If it were up to me our guys would have .50 cal sniper rifles and would shoot them on site.

Be more specific. They came from the federal government. The feds are bumbling through the war on drugs, and how they're handling illegal immigration. When two idiotic government agencies meet somewhere, expect only the greatest examples of ineptitude.

the war on drugs and the war on terror are two wars we will never see the end to, atleast not by our hand. both are ideas, and as V for Vendetta taught us...ideas are bullet proof.
