Marinatto is doing a great job so far. I'm not sure why anyones complaining. The TV deal will be the big thing though. If he can pull off a deal that puts us on par with the ACC, he'll be a BE god.

I think he did great in getting TCU into the league. If he can get a deal for the conference for at least what the ACC makes. Then i think thats the minimum.

If he gets more than that and adds a BYU then thats fantastic

A contract on par with the ACC is the minimum? You guys are setting yourselves up for dissapointment.

I think its possible to get a deal like that, but I dont see how that can be the benchmark. We dont have their fanbases, history, or national appeal.

If you believe Waylon Smithers (UConn poster), the offer ESPN gave us (that was rejected) was basically equivalent to $15MM/team.

Do you have a minimum requirement for him to hit in tv dollars, expansion/realignment for the forseeable future that says "OK, he did a good enough job"

Decent article from new ESPN blogger comparing Marinatto and Scott coming in at same time and how Scott has been able to be proactive and Marinatto reactive....

http://espn.go.com/blog/bigeast/post/_/i...to-deliver

I'm just guessing, as I currently don't have a strong opinion about the commish one way or the other. However, I'd say the minimum he needs to do is stay at 9 or have some kind of expansion that includes BYU (i.e. not weaken the level of competition). And he needs to bring in at least $15M per team.

Though so far I kinda like him for three reasons. 1) He invited TCU 2) He didn't rush to expand after that 3) He turned down ESPN's initial offer.

Are you guys going to still like Marinatto if delivers $18-million/team but we get stuck playing the majority of our conference games on Wed, Thursdays and Fridays?

Hard to continue building fan bases across the league w/o traditional games on Saturdays.

No. I prefer Saturdays to a few extra dollars.

Wednesday and Friday absolutely not. Thursday is a different story. Thursday night games are very good for the conference imo. They are the college equivilent of Monday Night Football. I'd take as many of those as we can get.

Pretty much he needs to deliver a large enough contract that keeping the hybrid together. If he fails to do that, I'm pretty sure the FB schools will break away and chart their won destiny. As I have pointed out before. The FB schools can not afford to fall further behind the other conferences in revenue generation. If he fails to do that, he might still be commissioner of the Big East, but it will be a much smaller and weaker league without FB.

Friday has grown on me a bit, but, as far as Sunday-Wednesday, absolutely, positively, NOT! If it ends up that we are the only major conference on the NBC networks, then there will be plenty of Saturday slots anyway.

My thoughts exactly. I don't mind an occasional Thursday or Friday game....but not every other week.

If Wednesdays become the norm for the Big East....it would actually dampen my enthusiasm for college football.

I can live with Thursday as its College Football's version of Monday Night Football, an occasional friday is....ok....but Wednesday or even freaking Tuesday/Sunday.....count me out.

It's kind of a gray area right now... there are a lot of schools that play on Saturday these days.

Back in the day, my family had hs games on Friday, youth football on Saturday morning, and Louisville games were at 4pm or 7pm. Howard Schellenberger knew the order of what was best for football as a sport.

Because thats the day we should be playing on. I don't mind Thursday major matchup games, but the ALL the rest should be on Saturday, and a couple million less and a new tv channel will take care of that. Screw ESPN for sticking us in the weekdays and forcing fans to miss their other events like high schooll games, etc IF they try to make these games.

If our schools prove it on the field on NBC and get ranked, then ESPN will be forced to cover us with a positive tone.....we know as soon as we leave them in football its going to be bashfest, but how much worse could it actaully get there or on the field for us.....it could get worse for the fans if we continue to play half or more of our games on weekdays. Even Thursdays don't need to be watered down with random matchups and each school on it 2-3 times a year.
