If you want to argue the point after you read this, let me know.
I'm confused. What exactly is your point? It's no secret that FIU had the chance to hire Howard. Are you bragging about not hiring him? If so, congrats on passing on a South Florida icon and a college football legend to hire Don Strock. Good choice!
Yeah, I can see how you might get confused jumping into other peoples conversation. By the way, if it was no secret that FIU started its program first and HS was one of the original applicants for the FIU position...then why didn't you correct your wayward friend before I posted? hmmm....maybe that's the point.
Sorry, I didn't realize that you were engaged in an exclusive conversation here...on a public message board.
Anyway, I didn't respond because I had nothing to add. I certainly wasn't trying to "hide" anything. Does it really matter that FIU interviewed Howard first? Besides, why didn't you respond when I commented on your original post the other day? You skipped right over that one to respond to the very next one.
Regardless, I still don't understand the point you are trying to make. It was obviously not smart of FIU to pass on Howard in favor of Don Strock, so why is this a point of pride for you?
Again, was correcting an item from one of your fellow fans that was trying to practice a revisionist sort of history. You didn't refute my comment and your question appeared more rhetorical than actually expecting an answer....that's why I ignored it.
Beyond that, every knows that FAU would not have started up a program if not for FIU doing so (you think the timing is mere coincidence?).
so sorry, I was not aware... you were right...
and as stated...

You were not aware? Or you were trying to create a false impression knowing it might be difficult to prove you wrong?
It's tough being caught in a lie, isn't it? But don't worry, you've got company on this board.

Everyone knows that? I don't know that. I have no idea when FAU first decided to attempt to start a program. If I had to guess, I'd say that the idea probably began when USF started it's program, which pre-dated either of our schools teams. Why this matters to you...I'm not sure.
Besides, you started the conversation by stating that Howard will be remembered for being passed over at FIU. My question is why are you proud of that? If you want a thank you for not hiring him, OK...thanks! FAU appreciates it!

Honestly I did not know and I was enrolled at the time, no one gave a "F" about FIU back then, still don't really once again, thanks for passing on HS.
FAU
• Fastest start-up program to win a conference title
• Fastest start-up program to win a bowl game
• Fastest start-up program to win consecutive bowl games

Huh?!? Why would anyone have any reason to "lie" about this nonsense?? If he didn't know, he didn't know. What is the big deal? He was trying to "create a false impression"...What purpose would that serve?

Well how old are you? 15? Why are you even commenting on things you don't know anything about. We were blogging about this in the late 90's for crying out loud. Shoot, we were still in the TAAC/A-Sun back then.
FIU had done years of due diligence leading up to the announcement, then, after all the votes by all the government agencies and boards were complete and announcements were forthcoming, in comes little 'ol FAU saying 'we want a program too' and they get a program fast-tracked. Schnelly had one foot into retirement if it wasn't for FAU's new program. And don't forget, he had just been released by Oklahoma after a mediocre tenure there and unsavory rumors were following him around.
