RE: Troy #2 in RPI
When South Alabama was #1 in the RPI last week, and because last week I said the RPI at this point of the season was pretty much pointless, I stand by that notion, and say it really tells us nothing at this point on the season.
More interesting is that the team we swept last week (High Point), swept Temple this week, which benefitted us tremendously. Winning the series against USM and particularly in the fashion we did on the final game (13-4), is more telling right now than the RPI.
I fully expect us to be 14-3 or 15-2 when South Alabama comes to Troy to kick off the conference season, and that's when the rubber will meet the road. I see USA being around 11-5 when they come to Troy, but they have a tougher row to hoe before then, including current RPI #1 Washington State.
