Hey, no problem, I'd do the same things in some areas of Miami, esp. at a BK.

But to begin an entire self-righteous diatribe on a school and community with 'it's not easy being FIU' and 'I don't care for Miami' invites a rebuttal.

Why not put those negatives at the end, by putting them at the beginning it sets the tone for the entire aritcle. At the end you still get your point across but you don't taint the entire article with your bias right from the get-go.

But hey, I'm sure this 'professional' writer already knows this.

but the fries were good.....

Your problem is that he's calling out your program when it had the opportunity to send the right message but chose not to.

Correct, he is presuming to know more about the sitiuation (ergo calling it the 'wrong' decision, "And, they made the wrong decision") than the althletic department whose main job is to run the sports programs. Only a self-righteous person would presume to know more about a situation than those whose job is to make these decisions.

As to CajunT, I'm sorry that you have so destroyed your credibility as to need to bold your comments and attack everything one says. 05-mafia

Destroyed my credibility with FIU fans? It's no big deal FIUfan, since there are so few of you!03-lmfao

Your attendance figures tell a different story. Reality sucks! Anyone that denies those numbers has zero credibility in my book!03-hissyfit

Personal attacks, the first sign of a week argument! You can't deny that your sports programs aren't terribly attended? 1402 per game in BB, football finally averaged over 19,000 after the abysmal 2009 season. How about baseball and softball? Need we even go there?

Zee, why didn't you tip this young lady when you went through the drive-thru at BK in Miami? She's obviously still upset that you didn’t!03-lmfao

The head coach, which is the CEO of the program, sets the tone. What's T. Thomas have to say about it, or did he punt it up to the higher ups?

If you are a relativist, which apparently the higher ups at FIU seem to be, right or wrong really depends on how important you are for the program.

Our CEO of the baseball program, Robichaux, has a rule that all players are aware of in advance--get arrested, get suspended for one year. And we've used it for a staff ace in the past and a bit player last year.

Reputation, as well as respect, is earned.

What reputation is FIU earning (right or wrong?)

Edit to include this from the Fox News article:

"Some wonder whether Wittel's star status is affording him special treatment.

"I think if he was a benchwarmer, he definitely would be suspended,” said Linda Robertson, a writer with the Miami Herald.

“But he's their star player, and this university is trying to become more prominent... and, he's their star."

AND I'd say that about every program that's handling it the way FIU is. I'm not singling you out. It just seems like FIU taking alot of this problems on itself.

This has been a U of Miami Herald witch-hunt since the beginning. Quoting a Herald writer as support for this argument is circular in my opinion.

Nice deflection. Doesn't discount what I wrote though. (Or what your student journalist wrote for that matter.)

More babbling vitriol! What proof that you have of this accusation, your personal feelings?
