USU and L.V. paper Reporting it's...USU/SJSU
The news is starting to leak. UTEP has turned down the MWC; so to get to 12 the MWC turns to San Jose.

WAC is down to 3 football schools plus the Texas Twins and Denver.

Idaho - Big Sky
NMSU - Sun Belt?
La Tech - Indy

or...drum roll please...NMSU and La Tech to the Sun Belt. We'd also need to welcome back Denver until...???

Ahhh, just one big happy family again. 03-lmfao

Can't see any way for the WAC to get back to 8 football schools in the near-term. If they want to salvage the Olympic side, they can definitely do that with Seattle, Utah Valley, and Cal St.-Bakersfield.

The MWC would have 12/11 for FB/BB since Hawaii is in the Big West. Anyone expect Denver to go all out for that 12th spot in BB?

I wouldn't be surprised to see NMSU and La Tech get invited to C-USA. Or maybe just NMSU and we go after UNT. Anyway, whether we add anyone or not, the WAC is officially dead if this is true. It will be interesting to see what those 3 do.

A WAC poster reported that a Denver t.v. station scolled, 'Denver's move to the WAC uncertain'.

Will the schools who were leaving early still have to pay their $1M+ exit penalties? If so, to who?

Just say no to Tech. Let them rot. That's what they did to us and the rest of the belt 10 years ago.

Is it confirmed that USU and SJSU are gone?

I think the Tech administration should be in lobbying mode for a SBC invite. It's apparent now that there will be no cusa movement and the wac is dead.

There's still a minuscule chance of the WAC surviving if they can find two or three more Southland schools...they'd have Idaho, NMSU, LT, Texas St., UTSA as a base, then Lamar has been rumored as moving up to join. That's 6, so if they can get Sam Houston, Steven F. Austin, or whoever at this point, they survive. And I'm guessing they'd still take Denver, Seattle, and Utah Valley for non-football.

I don't think Independent is an option. It would be a nightmare for scheduling games. They aren't that proud. It has to be humbling to have San Jose State and Utah State chosen over you. It may take them another year to sit back and see if there is any more movement, but it seems inevitable that our home will be the SBC, if you will have us.

Honestly, I don't think that they were chosen over you. LaTech wasn't a consideration at all. Geographically speaking, it makes worse sense than your current contraption.

USU has a better basketball program. That's about it. I don't see where any of SjSU's programs are any better than yours.

Still, kudos for the gamble in 2001 that didn't pay off 10 years later.

To be fair, all of CUSA is waiting for the Big East to make a decision on expansion. If 'Nova accepts and moves up, that will place them at 10 with the high probability of going to 12 (as with the MWC now adding 12 all of the major conferences but the Big 12 will have 12 schools). If the Big East decides to add two more then it will more than likely be UCF and Houston, which will open up two holes in CUSA...so, I wouldn't expect Tech to come crawling this way any time soon. However, the SBC does have some options now with UTSA and NMSU on the market.

Even so, it's hard pressed to put Tech in CUSA's top 5 wish list.

WKU, MT and perhaps FAU and FIU offer more and that's just within our conference.

It really wasn't much of a gamble in 2001. It was a no-brainer. It might have been a bit more of a gamble after SMU, Rice, Tulsa, and UTEP left us out on an island in 2005, but I think we were obligated to stay at that point.

No offense to you personally, but no.

I think arkstfan or someone really knowledgeable posted something one time of how he felt each school would vote towards LA-Tech becoming a SB member again. Could this person re-post this? It was fun for me to read. It seems I remember it being almost split down the middle.
