Where will New Mexico St. go?
Latest rumors (from a San Jose paper) are that SJSU may be in the MWC mix if UTEP does not come through. Again, San Jose posters are wetting their pants on multiple blogs over the idea. There are 5 days until the MWC meetings open on Monday. So where does the WAC-5 stand now:

1.) USU - front-runner for MWC expansion
2.) SJSU - hoping UTEP turns down invite and receives one of their own (otherwise could be the Big West for them).
3.) Idaho - Back to the Big Sky
4.) NMSU - ???
5.) La Tech - FBS indy until C-USA comes to their senses.

To the NMSU destination; from what I've seen, the NM Aggies are not the same group that left the Belt five years ago. Not sure if bashing the Sun Belt with their brethren have turned them, however, they are an extremely belligerent group right now.

That being said, are there any positives out there for an SBC invite, should NMSU end up without a home. Like I said, to me, the new Ag's aint the old Ag's.

p.s. MWC Commish Thompson appears to be just waiting on the president's approval to drop the gauntlet on expansion.

Assuming CUSA is not in their right minds "coming to their senses" does not equate to an invite for Tech.

NM St's basketball would be an upgrade. Football, they'd be a middle to to bottom feeder.

There is no way CUSA invites Louisiana Tech...if they end up anywhere it will be in the Sun Belt. Or they can maintain their arrogance and just be an independent.

Really, REALLY don't think San Jose State will get into the Mountain West ahead of North Texas. The Mountain West affirms its desire to remain in the Lone Star State. Yes, they are going after UTEP first, but next in line is North Texas.

I just don't understand why La Tech to CUSA makes any sense. It seems to me, looking at a map, that CUSA needs colleges located farther east to bridge the gap for ECU and Marshall to the rest of the conference. There is also the argument of what does La Tech bring to the table other than another mouth to feed.

Of course, we all know that logical locations/travel expenses has very little to nothing to do with all this stuff.

It helps to understand if you're from Louisiana.

I don't know. With Nevada and Fresno State, I put my money on SJSU before UNT.

Given the state of California's budget situation, I'd put UNT before SJSU strictly because SJSU could be forced to disband their FB program.

SJSU would likely drop down to FCS and play Big Sky football with its other sports in the Big Sky or Big West before disbanding-if Sacramento State or UC Davis starts talking about dropping football, then it's time to worry about San Jose State.
