I hope they have work waiting for them. A lockout would put a damper on the start to their NFL careers...

They should think about it before making a decision. I think that is why Luck decided to stay at Stanford for his final year.

You're wrong about Andrew Luck. He's staying at Stanford to complete his degree in Architectural Design, which will end up paying him as much money as any NFL career would. The NFL lockout was irrelevant in Luck's decison, according to his daddy...

Do you believe his daddy? You don't think it was a combination of both? If it was just for his education, that that is admirable. Good for him.

I don't think the lockout had anything to do with it. His father was a Rhodes Scholar finalist, and I think Andrew wants his degree. You've got to admit, with an Architectural Design degree from Stanford he can write his own ticket, NFL or not...

No way. I know a few Stanford-educated architects. None of them made $5MM/year in their first 5 years after graduating. His signing bonus would more than pay for him to complete his college degree, and he would simply defer his degree, not withdraw. Stanford allows that. He'll never be able to be anything more than the #1 draft pick, which he already has sewn up. He could still change his mind, and I won't be shocked.

That said, you only get 4 years to play college ball, and it's far more enjoyable to be in college while you're with students your own age than to be the old guy in the room. That, to me, is what would likely keep him there. That and his girlfriend. Never underestimate the pull of the *****.
