Disney/ABC/ESPN are shrewd business operators. Their Monday Night Football ratings are doing well, plus on the horizon there are a whole new stream of revenues coming over the next few years with the rise of the mobile internet. The content can be sold to cell phone companies such as Verizon, AT&T to attract customers. For example there is free content for only customers of Verizon or AT&T.

Yes, it is absolutely a bottomless pit of money. ESPN accounted for over 50% of the profits of the ENTIRE Disney company last year. Think about that with all of the Toy Story 3 movie tickets sold, all of the Mickey Mouse merchandise, all of the ABC shows, all of the people that went to Disney World and Disneyland, all of the Lion King theater show tours, etc. ESPN alone made more money for Disney than ALL of those other things put together.
