Even though ESPN, in football, tends to **** on us anyways. We're the jilted spouse with them at times.

Since ESPN has dumped on us for almost 20 years now, I don't think dumping them would be a mistake at all. If we yank all our football AND basketball games off ESPN, their claim as the LEADER in sports will be a failure of LEGEND...

ESPN does talk about things off the network, but they have to be big names/events unfortunately. I will give some credit to College Gameday showing up at odds spots not on TV or ABC/ESPN though.

ESPN covers about 15-20 teams in any sports in any year. More than that overloads the brains of the morons they have working for them, except for a very select few. New teams have to better down the door to get any respect, but the favored few get great coverage even when there's no news about that team worth watching...

Don't talk about ESPN around me. It's been a sore spot with me since it's inception. It's because cheap, Hollywood-style productions with no news values are being put out as news. There's little journalism - or journalistic integrity - to speak of, and ESPN has the audacity to call itself a sports news network...

As a fan of a team in a non-espn TV deal, I can tell you that they most definitely ignore those not affiliated with them. Prime example was the Rose Bowl. They were obviously obligated to say TCU, but they didn't mention the MWC once while mentioning the B10 many times.

I am sure ESPN does not want to lose BE BB coverage, but if they do, they simply start to ignore you in their coverage and before you know it, you were a "once mighty" BB conference.

I am happy to see CUSA upgrade in money and viewership. I love the MTN for the simple reason that I am guaranteed to see my Frogs play every week, and CUSA should be happy with the increased games on TV, but they will soon learn how hard it is to get attention nationally without ESPN on your side (as will Boise upon moving to the MWC).

ESPN is the tail that now wags the dog. No mistaking it.

The BEast will never be a "once mighty" BB conference, no matter how much ESPN would like to make us so. Every year is supposed to be a "down" year for The BEast - and then the season starts, and it makes most ESPN analysts look like the idiots they are. Why else are there so many "upsets"? It's because the morons at ESPN haven't a clue and usually end up favoring their favorite, instead of the better teams...

ESPN lost all credibility with me after the Princess James fiasco - not 'The Decision' which was bad enough, but the blog article a few weeks after about James' little party in Vegas getting taken down. To me, ESPN's a considerably less creative athletic version of MSNBC/Fox News. Pure propoganda.

Yup they had no problem talking up TCU but I didn't once hear them mention the MWC but I heard plenty of future Big East stuff going on.

Competition is good period so hopefully Fox expands their footprint somehow. Does Fox have
a 24x7 sportscenter type channel?

With Fox picking up the Pac-10 title game this could potentially increase the number of cable providers with Fox sports lineups.

Virtually every cable system out there has Fox Sports Net or its affiliates. This isn't like CBSC where it had to establish itself.

And FSN isn't airing the Pac-10's title game. Fox Broadcasting (your local Fox affiliate) is.

I wish Fox would buy Versus. I think they need a full national network (FSN is great, but the channels are primarily regional networks). If you could combine what Versus has been able to achieve (including NHL rights) with everything that Fox has (some MLB rights, some Big 12 and PAC-10 rights, complete Conference USA rights, lots of regional stuff that can occasionally be of interest on a national scale, etc), and you could have an entity in a position to start challenging ESPN. They'd still be a distant 2nd, but they'd be moving up a lot.

While, as an ACC fan, I would probably like that, the simple matter is, Big East Basketball has built up enough credibility that it would hurt ESPN to not have Georgetown, Syracuse, Villanova, Louisville and/or UConn in its inventory.
