Does the ACC lose their BCS bid now? Their champion got beaten just as badly as ours - if not worse...

Attendance was reported as 65,453. Yes, pigs do fly in Florida.

He's been trolling over at the MWC's board, let them skewer him and a couple other ACC posters who migrated there.

The ACC should lose their tie-in with the Orange Bowl. That used to be a great bowl with classic matchups but it is slowly strangling to death thanks to being saddled with lousy ACC champs year in and year out.

I've always thought that bowl ties in usually prevented the best matchups from occurring more often than not...

Definitely worse. UConn didn't look lost or like they gave up. They were just outmatched. Va Tech was outmatched and they looked lost and just beaten.

Both looked similar to me: Over-matched team plays inspired ball and hangs around for a half or so then much better team runs away from them for 28 point wins.

VaTech was beaten by the Pac-10's second BCS bowl team, a Stanford squad that might have been in Glendale on January 10th if not for a loss on the road at eventual champion Oregon.

The Hokies have little to be embarrassed about--at least they and the ACC will finish the year with ranked teams.

The Hokies lost to two non-BCS schools. The fact that they ran through the ACC says more about how bad the ACC has become. Didn't you watch the Miami and Georgia Tech games?

So UConn lost to a BCS conference champion with multiple national championships under their belt by the same score that Virginia Tech lost to a team that didn't win their conference and finished 1-11 three years ago and you're here trying to defend that? Why?

You mean besides losing at home to the 8th place team in the Colonial Athletic Association?

Never said we were any better, although we were without our starting qb in that game. Had we beaten you and WVU and been the ones in that game it would of been the same thing. The whole conference sucked this year, and your school did great to win it. I meant no hostility by that comment.

Still, the PR hit from an unranked team winning our conference and getting blown out in the fiesta bowl has been minimized and i love it.

Yep. Heck, Tech is making UConn look competitive!

The ACC is now 2-11 in BCS bowls.

The Uconn loss was no worse then Va Tech's as the point differential between the winner and loser were the same in both games. The fact that the Big 10 went 0-5 the other day with one of the loses to a future Big East member also took some heat off the Big East. The other conferences have their own problems. I have no hard feelings against Va. Tech for going to the ACC but I enjoy anything that messes up Swofford's grand plan and Stanford did exactly that with their big win.

Yes, they were 1-11 three years ago. I believe there's a reason Jim Harbaugh is a highly sought-after man as of this typing. But Stanford's mascot is a tree, so that's potentially embarrassing on that front. 01-wingedeagle

Winning eleven straight games all the way towards the ACC Championship sorta makes up for it, considering you had no shortage of talking heads quick to call the Hokies 'roasted' back in September. I can tell you this, the VT team that lost to the Cardinal would have put up a much better fight against Oklahoma than the worst BCS bowl participant ever.

UConn wasn't the only 4 loss team to be a BCS participant. I would agree they were one of the worse but the worst is hard to prove.

There are a number of candidates for worst team to go to a BCS bowl...2006 Wake Forest, 2004 Pitt, 1999 Stanford, 2007 Hawaii are all in the running.
