More fall out

Quote:SaysL "Pitt spokesman E.J. Borghetti later released another statement, this one affirming the university's support for Athletic Director Steve Pedersen, who hired Mr. Haywood:

"Mr. Pederson has played a key role in elevating Pitt's athletics programs, remains an important member of the University's senior leadership team and continues to enjoy the full support of the Chancellor."

Yeah, for Pitt sake keep him out of it and then when it all settled fire his @$$ as well.
If a university's AD isn't involved in a coaching search, and the university president is the one making all the announcements, I'd say that AD is toast...

One kinda sad thing about this is that Haywood may have hired a few assistants or brought some with him from Miami (OH) who are likely out of a job because of Haywood's stupidity and don't have the ability to go back to their previous position.

Too bad for Haywood and his wife. In the long run good for Pitt. I would hope that they set their sights on a higher level head coach prospect.

Exactly this last part. Its Pitt not Indiana. Pitt's a very big time job.

I wonder how this debacle will impact Pitt's ability to bring in somebody else. I'm sure there are plenty who would jump at the chance, but would any of them be an upgrade from Wanny?

Interestingly enough, I have heard that the press release came from Nordenberg, not Pederson.

Apparently, the previous finalists were Golden, Haywood, Graham, Sumlin, and possibly Turner Gill. I'm not sure about Gill though.

Let's see what they come up with because Pitt just lost the whole recruiting class now. Even Quinton Alston (LB, NJ) - the kid who absolutely loved Pitt - just decommitted.

Steve Pederson needs to fired too.

I guess now we know why Nova has been approached to upgrade. It's because Pitt has decided to downgrade.

Check out these quotes by John Seibel of 93.7 the fan.

Quote:how is it that from the days prior to his hiring up to this very second, i have known more about michael haywood than the "search committee" that was supposedly vetting him? i'm not surprised by this story, yet those who hired him are.

Quote:to clear up any perception that i'm rubbing it in pitt's face, i'm not. the point is this. if i could find information, a "search committee" certainly could have dug it up.

I added some fun to the story as well with my own twist.

All I gotta say is that this has completely taken my mind off of my cousins death.

Sorry about your cousin, animus. Hopefully you'll get to shoot Steve Pederson out of a cannon for some stress relief when he gets fired...

You never know, you might get lucky. They may give you the gasoline and matches...

A poster over on the UC board had a hi-larious take on this train wreck at Pitt.

Just saw a ProFootballTalk tweet that Pitt's talking to Marvin Lewis. Don't know how well he can recruit, but I think that could be a great hire...

Maybe so, and then again, maybe not. Historically, NFL coaches coming down to the college level don't have the greatest track record, unless they've coached at the college level previously. There's a big difference between coaching pros and amateurs...

Oh my. That would actually make me laugh harder than I did when they announced that they hired that knucklehead Heywood. 8 years as a HC and Marvin the Paranoid Android still can't figure out how to manage a clock or challenge a play. Pitt would be dreadful with him at the helm.

Oh Pitt, how you have lost your way...
