NYC is FAR from a dangerous city. I go there every 2 months for my work and we always walk around, usually in times square but we've even gone up to Harlem to eat. Never once have i been worried. Even in harlem we were asking people walking around for directions and they were very helpful. Its just a big city so when something does happen it gets a lot of pub.

FBI ranked the top 400 most dangerous cities (only counting cities over i think 75k people). New York City came in #269, below Santa Barbara (250), Fargo, ND (252), and Santa Monica (253).

Some other big east cities:

19. Hartford
22. Washington DC
24. Cincinnati
30. Philly
52. Dallas
74. Syracuse
82. Pittsburgh
147. Louisville
155. Tampa

I realize all that, dude. I just thought it was ironic that this happened over the holidays, and merely put in NYC as the location where it happened. There was no motive. It could have happened anywhere. But it didn't. It happened in NYC. So I mentioned it. It was just a statement of an ironic fact...

I understand. I just always hate it when NYC gets that bad rep as a dangerous city, I love it there.

I enjoyed NYC myself when I've gone, and I've spent time in Harlem too. Hell, I've spent time in Watts and Compton, CA, for that matter...
