LSU pads their rest before 2011 game against West Virginia
LSU and Mississippi State have agreed to move their game originally scheduled for Saturday, September 17 to Thursday, September 15.

That allows it to be televised on ESPN, but LSU admits another motivation for agreeing to the move:

"Following the trip to Starkville, LSU heads to West Virginia on Sept. 24.

“Playing on that Thursday gives us a chance to come back and have some extra time to prepare for the trip to West Virginia and that’s something that appealed to us,” Associate AD Verge Ausberry said."

It's funny how much respect BCS teams give the Big East. It's the media, non-AQ schools and Rival fans that like to talk poorly about BE schools. But you see stuff like this all the time from SCHOOL officials. The people that make up the BCS rarely have a bad thing to say about our conference and it's members.

Of course Canes fans haven't had much nice to say about Louisville lately, but that's to be expected when we've come in a swooped half their recruiting class 03-wink

I think LSU's respect for WVU's game improved considerably when the announcement of Holgorsen as WVU's new OC and head coach-in-waiting became official. Holgorsen's offenses have been ranked in the top 5 nationally since 2005, and that gets noticed by people in the know. LSU knows how tough the WVU game in Baton Rouge was, and now even though WVU graduates a good part of a nationally ranked defense, the game in Morgantown just got a lot tougher...

Stephen F. Austin’s OC, Shannon Dawson, who accepted a position on Holgorsen's staff, has just as impressive a resume as Holgorsen, albeit at a lower level. But everything I see so far has me convinced that Ollie hit a home run with this hire...

Yes, Dawson had an immediate impact at SFA (a school in east Texas, within LSU's outer orbit so to speak, so we hear a bit about them in Baton Rouge). In just one season as OC, their points-per-game soared from 16 ppg to 35 ppg. A month or so ago there was some buzz about getting him on LSU's staff to help with their anemic offense, but obviously nothing came of it.

Dawson ended up at the right spot. Baton Rouge is okay. But Morgantown is more fun IMO...

Baton Rouge has some pluses - great cajun/mississippi delta culture, and close proximity to New Orleans. But it's also dirty and crime-ridden, and i personally miss four seasons, it's too hot and muggy for too long.

Though i've never been, i imagine Morgantown has less culturally going on in the immediate vicinity, being isolated in the mountains. But, those mountains probably give it a beautiful scenery, and you are only a couple hours drive from major metro areas like Pittsburgh and DC, so access to the amenities of urban life are right around the corner.

You should go sometime, quo. It'll shatter your preconceptions. You'll find there's more to do around Morgantown than you think...
