Award for Gates
Given the awarding party, I can only interpret this as a bad thing:

He’s hip: Gates is mtvU Man of the Year

NEW YORK — Sorry Justin Bieber, but college students aren’t your audience.

MTV’s college network, mtvU, has crowned Defense Secretary Robert Gates as its “Man of the Year.”

Gates was given the honor because he “became a role model for public service, proving that it’s possible to work within an institution to impart change,” mtvU said in a statement Wednesday.

The network also commended the 67-year-old Republican for his focus on the youth, gender bias and repealing “don’t ask, don’t tell.”

Rapper Nicki Minaj was named “Woman of the Year” for outdoing her male counterparts in the rap field and “calling for an end to homophobia in hip hop.”

RE: Award for Gates
I would have preferred that RG focused on ending this nonsensical war and bringing our brave men and women home to their families. Oh Well.....Allowing tops an bottoms to merge freely in his ranks was easier and garnered him easier style points....We are truly doomed.
