48billion reasons why all earmarks should be BANNED permanently
Quote:Cleaver has listed a new earmark -- one of several -- and he promises to "fight for every one." But this is a whopping $48 billion package that must go down as the grandaddy of all earmarks.

Proposed by a gentleman named Lamar Mickens, president of the not-for-profit Quality Day Campus, the $48 billion earmark would funnel money into the inner cities to give money to the poor and thereby produce a much larger consumer class to buy the goods and services produced in this country.

It's not wealth redistribution, it's wealth creation

Charity begins at Lamar Mickens home

Rep. Emmanuel Cleaver requested, last year, $1million of earmarks for Mr. Mickens daycare "enterprise". Sure sounds like Mr. Mickens and Rep. Cleaver hope to cash in on the earmark lottery as soon as Rep. Cleaver can sneak one in.

You don't give money to the poor, they'll just piss it away. If anything, and I'm not in favor of this, you give them help by giving them food no one wants and stuff like that. Handing money to the poor only encourages them to stay poor.

48 billion a year is half a trillion dollars over ten years... we've had class warfare over about that same amount in "tax cuts for the rich" that apparently affect just about everyone....

Take out the pork and eliminate the deduction over $1mm/yr and the "tax cuts" are paid for.
