So that means because they are a D1-AA school that they cannot compete with any teams that are D1-A?

In some cases the only thing different is the stadium size and budget. I think Toledo "could" beat all 10 of the top 10 AA schools but most likely they would win a few lose a few. So having a couple teams above us is fine. James Madison beat VT, VT is in the top 25. There are probably 20 teams maybe 30 who could beat Buffalo, Akron, Ball State, or EMU. Plus a couple From the SBC, MWC and WAC. Most AA teams are behind all of the A schools but some are pretty darn good and could compete with the 60's 70's and 80's of Sagarin.

I would expect that Toledo has a home field experience at the Motor Pizza Bowl. If they don't Toledo fans truly should be ashamed. Playing one hour from home in a nice start of the art domed stadium, should be an easy sell. I suspect more than a few Rocket fans live closer to Ford Field than the Glass Bowl.

FIU has no bowl experience, they had the whole "we don't want to go" fiasco to take away the joy of a bowl bid, there will be plenty of Florida kids encountering their first winter weather. Even in dome conditions, this will be the third coldest game FIU plays this year. Pitt and MTSU were the only colder games.

If FIU wins this one, I think it sends a far bigger message than the New Orleans Bowl.

I totally agree. It would be a win on the road, it shows they can win after a tough defeat, and it shows they are a D1 school that is ready to compete with other schools with the same talent. If FIU was playing anyother team I would root for them but right now I am hoping they are good next year and they win a bowl game next year...unless of course if they play toledo again.
