RE: Coaching news
I think there will be a lot of hard feelings toward Edenfield by Troy if he leaves for UL. Blakeney gives him the chance to come back to his alma mater Troy and be an FBS OC. So if he stays for one year just to make a lateral move. that's will look real bad.
Tony Franklin stays two years and gets offered OC at Auburn, Neal Brown stays 2 years and gets offered OC at Texas Tech... Edenfield is already priming himself to go off to a big school if he stays with Troy. Bad move imo to go to UL..

It's not a done deal, but the money is better then Troy. I'm not sure if it was Mrs. Hemi that stated UL didn't have the money, but they certainly have more to pay coaches then Troy today.

No, it was me that said it, and what I said was, I would be surprised if ULL could offer that much more to make him leave. If I were coaching at my alma mater, that was always on top of the conference, and in a position to possibly be the next head coach in a few years, it would take a pretty large raise to get me to leave to a conference rival that is usually in the middle of the pack.

Well perhaps you might have done a little more homework and you would have discovered Edenfield is from Louisiana. So for the right money and a chance to return home, he just might have wanted the job. I was also referring to his comments made on another board, not yours. We know were you stand in regards to the Cajuns and pretty much disregard anything you post.

I'm not sure what you mean by that, I really like ULL. I think the Cajuns are one of the best fanbases in the conference. I had a blast in Lafayette for the conference tournament back in 2007, I was really fed well at one of the ULL tailgates in Murfreesboro last year and it's the conference football trip that I haven't made that I most look forward to making at some point. So you disregard anything I post because I like you guys?

Right....
What does my calling you by the proper name of your university have to do with liking you guys? I refuse to call my school UMT and I refuse to call your school UL. It's a matter of principle. Just because I like you guys doesn't mean I have to call you by what you wish you were called. If the name change ever occurs, I'll gladly call you by whatever it is changed to, but until then, I'll call you by your name.
If you pay attention you'll notice I never use names like "Troy State", "Memphis State", "grUNTs" etc. I don't get into name smack, it's not my fault you guys consider it smack to be called by the legal and official name of your university.

Mitch Rodrigue was an OL coach for years at USM. At USA he mostly coached tight ends and offensive tackles, but was definitely not the Jags primary line coach.

He was the primary offensive line coach at USM before he took the positition with USA. That makes him more then qualified, coaching the line on five bowl teams.

I think I mentioned USM. I'm sure he'll do fine for you guys and we'll be fine without him.

You did, but I've seen a post on the McNeese board that was similar worded that tried to down play it the same way as you have in your post. Dude, he is reputation as an offensive line coach is solid. Let's not try and dismiss his hiring as no big deal to USA since he is getting an increase in salary. I can assure you, the staff Hudspeth is putting together is just as good or better then what you have today at USA I've been comparing the bios of the other staffs in the SBC.
Of course he's getting a raise, he was an assistant OL coach at a school that hasn't joined the NCAA in football yet. He took a big pay cut and a demotion from what he had at USM because he needed to stay close to Hattiesburg because of his wife's career
I'm not trying to downplay your new coaching staff. If you look in one of the previous threads you'll see that I really like the Hudspeth hire and Steve Campbell is a good get too. What I'm trying to say is that we have a really good OL coach at USA and, while Mitch was a big help in our Louisiana recruiting, I expect zero dropoff in that unit.

Oh how I'm loving the pissing contest between two irrelevant programs. At least the Cajuns have good food. Or course they have Mr Magoo as well so that is a negative.
