Cristobal came from UMiami and is on the potential coach lists in the South Florida media.

RE: How is your team marketing your bowl game?
This is the package:

FIU Bowl Bound – You In?

Dear Students, Board Members, Alumni, Faculty and Staff:

We look forward to seeing you at Ford Field in Detroit on December 26, 2010- 8:30 p.m. at the Little Caesars Bowl – the first bowl game in the history of FIU football! Your presence and support of the Golden Panthers will demonstrate to the nation our enthusiasm, spirit, and commitment to the FIU family.

It is important that we provide the opportunity for as many students, faculty, staff, alumni, board members and friends as possible to come support our Panthers. To make your trip as convenient as possible, we are pleased to offer you the following travel options:

· Charter Flight: We have reserved a 172 seat charter jet that will depart from and return to Miami on the same day - December 26. The travel package price of $500 includes ground transportation to and from FIU to the airport, air transportation, game ticket, tailgate festivities, ground transportation to and from Ford Field, food and beverage on the flights, and a bowl memento. The plane will be reserved for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and board members first - so space is limited. Reserve your seat online as soon as possible! Deadline to make your charter flight reservations and payment is Friday, December 10th at 4p.m.

· Bowl Central: Individual travel arrangements can be made via FIU’s Bowl Central page. Game tickets ($45) and Panther Pit Tailgate and ticket packages ($65) are also available.

In addition, if you are not planning on attending but would like to support our team -- we are pleased to offer you the opportunity to help us with student travel to the bowl game and general bowl expenses of the FIU Athletics program. The following gifts will help us fill the stands and fund unrestricted costs of the game:

Fund travel for an FIU student:

· All Star Panther Package - $500 : Includes ground transportation to and from FIU to the airport, air transportation, game ticket, tailgate festivities, ground transportation to and from Ford Field, food and beverage on the flights, and a bowl memento.
· Panther Pit Tailgate Package - $65: Includes game day and tailgate ticket.

Unrestricted bowl support:

· 25 game day tickets - $1125
· 20 game day tickets - $900
· 15 game day tickets - $675
· 10 game day tickets - $450
· 5 game day tickets - $225
· 1 game day ticket - $45

Your help is needed now and very much appreciated. You can make your donations online or call 305-348-7514.

We encourage you to share these opportunities with your family, friends, and colleagues to ensure that our Sun Belt champions receive the support they need. We appreciate your enthusiasm and look forward to your presence at this historic event!

Go Panthers!

Sincerely,

Mark B. Rosenberg

How is La-Tech marketing their bowl? With their separation we should be taking notes.

I thought I heard Cristobal couldn't be hired by Miami because they had fired him previously, or something like that.

Mario was never fired from UM..he was an assistant there before leaving with Coach Schiano to Rutgers and then came back to Miami from 04-06 before taking the job at FIU as the head coach.

I believe Ohio's student package beats MT's by a long shot.

It's a better deal for sure, but if they're already going to take the enormous bath on this one, why make it only one night? I doubt there are many students that are paying $40 for one night, that wouldn't pay $80 or even $100 for two nights. Personally if I were a student at Ohio, despite the incredible deal, it being only one night would actually tick me off and would make me very tempted to blow off the great deal and travel on my own, even though it would cost a lot more. Who wants to go to NOLA and only spend one night?

OHIO is still on the quarter system so they have a 6 week break for the holidays (Thanksgiving-New Years) so a lot of students go home and work seasonal jobs. i'm guessing the quick trip is so more students can justify going while only missing a minimal amount of work. Plus its creates a lower price point (how can you NOT go for $40?) and... OHIO is regularly listed as a top 10 party school; the less time our students are exposed to the Big Easy on a University sponsored trip, the better. They sold out all 9 buses pretty quick, should be a good crowd. 04-cheers

I understand your point, but if it was me, I still think I would probably decide to travel on my own. That is going to be one miserable bus ride home for a lot of kids who decide to get all their partying in in just one night.

It was announced today that the charter plane option for FIU fans has been sold out...all 172 seats on the charter jet are sold at $500 per person. That included round trip air, transport to the game, tailgate at the game, game ticket.
