More pressure on FIU than MT/Troy?
A few weeks ago, FIU was having an increidble season. They locked up at least a share of the their first conference title and bowl eligibility and looked to be headed for their first winning season. Flash forward and FIU is sitting at 6-6, their hopes of an outright championship dashed and find themselves heading to the worst possible bowl scenario.
Now, no matter what the outcome of their bowl game is, 2010 was without question their best season, however, lose the bowl game and that elusive first winning season escapes them as well.

I think FIU is one of the best 6-6 teams out there. They are better than the record would indicate. The team speed is probably the best in the SBC.

I certainly have newfound respect for FIU. Cristobol has done what he said he would do and you have to respect a man for it. Their fans have been patient and it is beginning to pay off. Congratulations on your first piece of the title Panthers.
If we had to share it with anyone, I'm glad it's you...and not Middle.

Well just as you have us to thank for making sure you're included in the co-championship, you have UNT to thank for us not being included as well. Had we not lost that game(a game that it is not unreasonable to think we should win) it would be a three way tie atop the conference.

Oh for sure, there are a lot of paralells between what happened to FIU this year and what happened to us in 2006. To make matters worse, he's already on the defensive from some needling by another MT fan in another thread.

I won't lie, MTSU was the best team in the conference in 2006, we just snuck away with the win, and have been successful since. Same in 2007, I thought Troy was the better team and FAU came in and stole it from us. FIU is still the champs though, and IMO, the best team in the league this year.

If they had a better quarterback they would have run away with the league and some of those OOC near misses would have been easy wins as well, but no matter how much talent you have a 1-1 TD/INT ratio is really going to hold you back.

I'm gonna say that FIU isn't better than MT this year. They couldn't beat us at home when it mattered, they're simply not as good.

I think they had a better team than we did this year across the entire season. Our team lived and died by which #9 showed up under center. When #9 was on, we had the better team, but that wasn't too often this year.

RE: More pressure on FIU than MT/Troy?
That's a good point, when Dasher plays like the Dasher of 09 then we're better than FIU, case in point last night. When Dasher plays like he did for the majority of this season then FIU is 4 tds better than MT. To answer the original question of this thread I think the pressure is on FIU to get to 7 wins. This really might end up being just another losing season for the Golden Panthers if they can't take care of business against Toledo. MT has had pressure on em all year and it crippled us, the fact that we won our last 3 games when we had to, took the pressure off our back. We made it back to a bowl game, I think most MT fans are just relieved and overjoyed where we are right about now. And Troy... well everyone probably assumes they'll lose their bowl game anyway so they shouldn't feel any pressure.

Just right now, based on little more than kneejerk predictions, I think Troy wins, FIU loses and if Dasher views this as his last audition to play professionally anywhere than we win, if he's prepping for riding I-10 down to Biloxi after the game...we're in big trouble.

I don't think FIU will feel more pressure, I think they will embrace the underdog, we get no respect role, and take it out on Toledo. I see FIU winning in Detroit.

They also have to overcome their disappointing end of season and playing in front of probably about 500 FIU fans.

Which part is stupid? You think you'll take significantly more than 500 fans? I think when we played their in 2006, we took like 2,000. If you guys can take half that, I'll be very impressed.

My feeling is FIU will go into Detroit and kick some arse. They will not be expected to win. That's what happened two years ago when a 6-6 FAU team went there and took out the MAC champ.
