Bit your boys don't even have to win Saturday but please keep it respectable and close. I'm fine with loses but I'm not cool with performances like tonight.

RE: Pitt/Miami Game Thread
I posed the question in a thread to Pitt fans before the season. What happens if Wanny takes 5 or 6 Ls this season with all this talent? Will some fans finally see the light? Guy just does less with more each year. And in high profile games- fugeddabowtit.

From what I have seen I guess WVU is in front, but not by much. The Big East does not look good at all right now.

RE: Pitt/Miami Game Thread
I didn't bother to read this thread - I was too busy watching the game last night. Not sure if it was said, but this loss is on Wanny. I am done with supporting this coach and will be expecting a new coach in the near future. My concern is that the AD - Pederson - will make a poor pick for a replacement. When he was AD at Nebraska, he picked Calahan to coach the huskers...

He knocked down RRod in what would have been WVU's most shining moment in its FB history. And that is all I have to say about that.

Not a problem. All the pregame talk is about how LSU's defense will be able to manhandle the Mountaineer offense. I think the game is going to be decided on the other side. WVU's D is going to give LSU's offense fits, and that's what will win the game for the Mountaineers...
Mark it down. You heard it here first...

You do know that in March Pederson gave him a contract extension out to the end of 2014?
But I agree the guy is a stiff on game day.

By high profile, I usually don't include ones where a team is trying to wrap up its year by getting a 4th win against a D-1 team.

Yes I know, but Wanny also gave Pitt a "home discount", so it may be feasible to buy him out. Also, considering how much Wanny loves Pitt he may be able to be bought out with a minimum of issues or some other arrangement might be worked out (like become the assistant AD?)

RE: Pitt/Miami Game Thread
This was an embarrassment by Pitt, an abject manhandling on both sides of the ball for the full 60 minutes.
Sad thing is, of our 3 marquee games this weekend, this was the one i thought we had the BEST chance of winning. Sheesh.

rath, I just UC can keep it more respectable than Pitt did...
But even if The BEast lays another stinker in Cincinnati, the Mountaineers will bail us out Saturday night in Baton Rouge...

RE: Pitt/Miami Game Thread
I went to Oklahoma 2 years ago when UC had about 6 guys on the defensive roster who are now in the NFL and they still put up half a hundred. This one won't be close. UC's roster is another year away from getting out from under the depletion left behind when Kelly bolted after not recruiting linebackers, etc.
The tailgate is going to rock, though.

.. thing is, while a WVU win over LSU would be huge for WVU, it won't bail the Big East out because we'll still be just 1-2 (assuming Cincy loses) in those big games.
WVU can only do so much, you can't save the conference by yourself (though you came close with those BCS bowl wins over UGA and OK). The rest of us have to help you.

RE: Pitt/Miami Game Thread
If WVU ends the season unbeaten and plays in the BCS Championship (it would be sweet to see WVU bail out the BCS conference setup in that game against Boise or TCU), all our other troubles should be forgotten. After all, the Pac Tin lived on USC - and nobody else - for years...

Wish i could agree, but the Pac-10 isn't in the same situation. It is clearly established as an elite conference in all sports so a few, even several, years of weakness doesn't seriously undermine that status. The Big East, in football, just doesn't have that same pedigree/history, so its status is much more vulnerable.
