RE: Brigham Young University and West Virginia University will play at Fed Ex
I don't agree with just about everybody's belief I meet. I have a rather unique perspective on life, and as a consequence I don't notice such things other than when religious holidays happen and it becomes apparent to all. But what a person believes is irrelevant to how you should act towards somebody. If they respect you and your beliefs, what does it matter what their beliefs are...

Life is a constant struggle. Why look for ways to make the struggle more difficult?

Sure bit, but respecting a person and an institution/organization are two different things. I'd respect any Mormon unless and until a particular individual who was Mormon gave me a reason not to respect them. That being said I don't have respect for BYU as an institution for its bigoted views/policies. They could be more respected and more inclusive if they became less divisive and restrictive. There's too much division in this world as it is.

I don't respect Wal-mart, BP, Exxon/Mobil, and a sh!tload of other organizations. Whether I respect 'em or not depends on the organization. But I certainly wouldn't put BYU on my sh!tlist. Not even close...

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. However I do agree with the examples you listed wholeheartedly. Walmart hasn't gotten a dime from me in years!

Great post.

PS. Having been to Utah many times (including Salt Lake City...got to see the World Famous Tabernacle Choir perform their Christmas Show), many Mormons are some of the nicest people on Earth.

Definitely understandable.

I guess my position is that I'm not against gay marriages being recognized by the state, but I can personally respect why churches have issues with it from a religious standpoint and don't hold it against them. If the view is acceptable, then I don't have a problem with them actually acting on it. It shows it's an actual belief and not just some BS on paper, like positions from a lot of organizations. Plus, from my perspective, there is a lot of ideological bias in the public colleges and that makes faults like this at BYU much easier to overlook.

Back to the topic on hand, this does sound like a great game to have set-up and good for both schools. As for VT, well, can anyone blame them if they never set-up a difficult first week again after their performance the last 5 years.

Another factoid about this farce of a "university". BYU is approximately 0.6% black. Maybe it's because those bigots only started accepting blacks in 1980. You know...decades after the civil rights movement.

While I'm cognizant of that fact as well. Its one example I choose not to use as they have changed with the times both at BYU and the official doctrine/positions of the LDS Church.

And KnightLight, absolutely agree I haven't met many Mormons in my relatively short time on Earth but every single one have been among the nicest people I've come across, which goes back to my I can respect people just not the institution thing.

And yes this is a good game for WVU on a national stage at FedEx Field where WVU can showcase just how large and powerful their fanbase is.

Im excited about the game. Its likely the 3rd game of the year so there should be a lot of excitement too it. I think it will be a sellout. Its a great game for WV and the bigeast.

3rd game of the year is ideal, more buildup especially if both are coming in 2-0.
