What's next? Is flying the Stars and Stripes offensive? Our national anthem? Our US Olympic team? How about our Constitution since it goes against Sharia law?

The left has turned American patriotism into a global insult.

In my crazy future world...fools like this would face ostracism so harsh that they would likely not be able to survive. GD overeducated ahole.....I do not even understand why anyone would take a f'ng thing that comes out of his pie hole seriously.

I'm agreeing with too many damn liberals these days. ....or, in my narcissistic way, they're agreeing with me.

You can tell by the flow of the essay that his blood pressure increases as he keeps writing. By Paragraph #3 the name-calling and Leftist chichés are in high gear, as he's in full self-guilt, resentment and contempt mode now, finally launching into his class warfare: Damn those "white" and "privileged" bourgoisie students who must be overthrown by the exploited proletariat!

He ends his essay by telling the University to ban all such expressions of USA at sporting events because it equates to 'justifying state-sponsored killings'. I assume after he wrote this, he threw on his old Che t-shirt and gazed lovingly at a portrait of Fidel Castro.

Thanks, Motown. You encapsulated all the thoughts I had as I read it but said it much better than I could. Kudos.

Actually, with a title like "Academic Professional" he likely does not have tenure. He probably supports some department in a professional capacity. At ASU we had Academic Professionals running various departmental instruments. Some universities probably give that title to post-docs. He only lectures (other than letters to the editor) if he's looking to get a tenure-track position in the future.

Good point Torch... but I guess if they fire him, we'll embolden the normally peaceful Muslims and force them to bomb us randomly.

I've come full circle

For my part, I understood the same thing and was being lazy when I said "professors", but I suspect there is a like-minded professor behind the scenes somewhere in this.

I'll note that I once asked a relatively junior wall street economist why he always seemed to be predecting the next crash or boom while his superiors were often predicting more modest changes... his response was... extreme opinions get press and attention. If you're wrong, people quickly forget... If you're right, you're the next GURU. If you predict modest returns, nobody will notice... even if you're right all the time.
