Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski to Mount Write-in Candidacy
Murkowski Who?

Murkowski to Mount Write-in Candidacy

Published September 17, 2010 | FoxNews.com

Get ready for the rematch.

Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who lost in a stunning upset to Tea Party-backed Joe Miller in the Republican Senate primary last month, is planning to mount a write-in candidacy for the general election in November, a Murkowski ally told Fox News.

Murkowski was swayed by a recent poll showing that if she ran as an independent, she'd beat Miller by 6 percentage points and Democratic candidate Scott McAdams by 18 percentage points, said Andrew Halcro, a former Republican candidate for governor.

But the write-in campaign will be an uphill battle for Murkowski because her name won't appear on the ballot and she won't have the support of the Republican establishment. Republican political action committees have already begun giving to Miller, who won the nomination after waiting nearly two weeks for state election officials to count the absentee ballots that guaranteed the win.

Murkowski, though, has $1.4 million in the bank to spend on her independent bid, and she will be the only seasoned politician in the race.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee instantly expressed delight in Murkowski's decision.

"Lisa Murkowski's decision to mount a write-in campaign is just the latest example of the Republican Party cannibalizing itself," DSCC spokeswoman Deirdre Murphy said in a statement. "From the tip of Florida, to the beaches in Delaware, all the way to the island off Alaska, the Republican Party heads into November with deep and serious divisions."

Murphy was referring to Gov. Charlie Crist's decision to ditch the Republican Party and run as an independent in the Florida Senate race after trailing badly to conservative Marco Rubio and Christine O'Donnell's upset victory over veteran Rep. Mike Castle in the Delaware GOP primary on Tuesday.

"Alaska voters now have three options in November: a Washington insider who supports the failed economic policies of the past, an extremist who wants to end Social Security and Medicare, and a small-town mayor would put Alaskan families first," Murphy added.

During the Alaska primary, the Tea Party Express ran ads supporting Miller and distorting Murkowski's position on the new health care law. She called the California-based organization an "outside extremist group."

I bet Mike Castle ends up running as an Independent in Delaware. He is just looking for the right "Sugar Daddy" to back the effort.

Lisa Murkowski and Charlie Crist deserve their own special place in Political Hell.

From Septmeber 1, 2010

In Rasmussen Reports’ first look at the U.S. Senate race in Alaska, Republican newcomer Joe Miller holds a six-point lead over Sitka Mayor Scott McAdams.

The latest statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Miller attracting 50% of the vote, while McAdams earns support from 44%. Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate and two percent (2%) are undecided.

Stupid Biatch doesn't know when to quit. IF she is dumb enough to do this Palin will just campaign a little more in Alaska and Murkowski still loses, and hopefully ends up with a major campaign debt.

This is as much directed to Palin as it is Miller.

Palin beat Lisa Murkowski's father to be elected Governor. The Murkowskis hate Palin.

"Today, my friends, my campaign for Alaska's future begins," she said, citing the support of longtime former senator Ted Stevens, who recently died in a plane crash. "I announce today that I will be a write-in candidate for the United States Senate seat that I now hold."

Murkowski added, "The easier route for me personally would be to accept the results of this primary and put me and my family first, and I gave that very serious consideration. ... But I looked into my heart, and I said, 'where is my heart,' and my heart is Alaska. I cannot leave you."

03-puke

As she made her announcement, leading Republicans in Washington turned their back on Murkowski, with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) announcing that she "no longer has my support for serving in any leadership roles, and I have accepted her letter of resignation from Senate leadership."

Murkowski has reportedly labored over her options in recent weeks. After announcing this week that she would no longer attempt to convince the state Libertarian Party to give her its nomination, she acknowledged that running a write-in campaign posted plenty of difficulties. Election experts strain to think of a candidate mounting a successful write-in campaign, though Murkowski does have a leg up, given her large war chest and incumbency."

Writing in "Dumb Biatch" may work. A few years ago in Texas a candidate in a House race with a wierd name tried a write in campaign on electronic voting machines, where you have to twist a wheel for each letter. Here is a trip down memory lane.

As Congress has been out of town all week, we haven’t heard from Pretend Representative Shelley Sekula-Gibbs in a while (she’s the gal from Texas who will keep Tom DeLay’s seat warm for a couple weeks before Dem. Nick Lampson, who actually won the election, shows up). No word yet on just what she said to The Hammer’s staff to cause them to all walk out during her open house, nor on the progress of her investigation into all of them. But from the Houston Press comes this bit of Sekulania: a brief list of just some of the names accepted as write-in votes for Shelley by the Fort Bend County elections office.

Voters cast their write-in ballots for, among others: Kelly Segula Gibbs, Snelly Gibbr, Schikulla Gibbs, Sheila Gibbs, Shelly Schulla Gibbs, Shelly Gibkula and, by someone who obviously never wanted the joy of using the machine to end, ShelleySkulaGibbsssss.

The absolute best one — perhaps the best political name of all time — was (we are not lying) “Shelly DraculaCunt Gibs.” It counted.
And we will say it over and over again until the end of DraculaCunt’s all-too-brief term.

Ya'll sound like Democrats after Lieberman ran as an independent after losing the primary to Ned LaMont. It's the way the game is played. Go out their and beat 'em again.
