That empty field where the stadium will stand became a buzz of activity on Monday.
All kinds of heavy equipment appeared and bulldozers and other earth movers sprung into action.
They are taking out a parking lot and clearing the way for the stadium. The official line will be that it is part of the infrastructure for Innovation Village, which includes the stadium.
But this is definitely stadium work to get a head start so when the Board of Governors gives the final OK on Sept. 16, they can ramp up in a hurry.
It is a tight deadline.
Yeah, I know, not very sexy, unless you are an avid fan that has been drooling for an on-campus stadium for years. Consider this the first concrete action on the stadium site.
And the nearby dorm complex its taking shape. Drive around the north end of campus and you would think we were back in the boom years when cranes dotted the landscape.
