Most memorable home game past 10 years
NT03 started a similar thread on gomeangreen.com. Thought it might be an interesting subject.

Here are my five most memorable home games at Fouts in the past 10 years. What are your most memorable home games ?

RE: Most memorable home game past 10 years
Don't think I'll make 5 because I've haven't been going to MTSU home games for that long.

1. "Miracle in Murfreesboro" Sept. 20 2008 14-13 W over FAU. Our first blackout game that was real ugly offensively, until around 8 minutes left in the 4 quarter. We scored 2 TD's in that time, one of them being a 32 yard TD pass with the time expiring.

2. Sept. 6 2008 24-14 W over Maryland. People rushing the field and just all around beat down over an ACC opponent.

3. Sept. 12, 2009 31-14 W over Memphis. A blackout game with a record attendance of 28,105; it's always fun to beat up on an in-state team.

4. Nov. 22, 2008 52-13 W over North Texas. Phillip Tanner rushed for 159 yards and scored a Sun Belt record six touchdowns (5 rushing and 1 kickoff return for 92 yards); he finished with 301 all-purpose yards

RE: Most memorable home game past 10 years
#1. Memphis at Arkansas State 2007. Rescheduled to a Thursday night after lightning forced the game to be cancelled. The Tigers hit a 53 yard TD pass on their first play from scrimmage and held a 10-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. They had stretched it to 24-6 when ASU was threatening to score at the Tiger 12 yardline. In what I felt was one of the worst officiating calls in stadium history an ASU runner who appeared to have been down for a couple seconds had the ball pulled away and ruled a fumble that was returned 88 yards for a 31-6 halftime lead. ASU does nothing first possession of the second half and stops Memphis on their first possession. I tell my wife if we don't get points this time we need to start the 2 hour drive home. Memphis punts ASU deep but is called for a penalty and forced to punt again. Kevin Jones fields the ball at the 11 on the east sideline cuts right and races 89 yards to cut the game to 31-13. Hold Memphis again and halfway through the next ASU drive make my prediction of the day, score a TD here and we win. Leonard connects on a 10 yard TD pass and then 2pt conversion pass to make it 31-21. Next possession Leonard hits Dejohnette for a 27 yard TD to make it 31-28 and the next ASU possession ends with a one yard TD pass to Brown to make it 35-31 ASU. Arkansas State scored 29 points in 15 minutes and 33 seconds to take the lead and held on the final 7 minutes for the win.

#2. Louisiana Lafayette at Arkansas State 2005. Cajuns jump out to 16-0 lead as the first half winds down. ASU takes a heave at shot down the field and the Cajun defender splatters the ASU receiver at about the four yardline midfield, the ball deflects off the Cajun as the flag flies but Joe Smith who never stopped running catches the ball in the corner for a 41 yard TD pass with 2 seconds left in the half, but for the deflection ASU would have had first down at the 26 with 2 seconds left. Some new kid who can't seem to be tackled keeps the Cajuns going. Desormeaux runs for 14 to give the Cajuns a 22-7 lead in the 3rd. Running back Shemar Bracey catches a 25 yard TD pass to cut it to 22-14. Cajuns answer again to make 29-14 at the end of three. Bracey runs for a TD to make it 29-21, Noce hits DeJohnette for 57 yards and Burton for the 2 pointer to make it 29 all. Noce scores from 15 to give the Indians a 36-29 lead. Cajuns mount a time eating 18 play 80 yard drive capped with Harrison's second TD run of the night and with the PAT, game tied with 52 seconds left. ASU returns the kickoff to the 38 and puts together a 6 play 44 yard drive finished off with a Neihouse FG at the horn for a 39-36 win. The game ends up denying the Cajuns an outright Sun Belt title and hands the tiebreaker to ASU who faces USM at Cajun Field for the New Orleans Bowl.

RE: Most memorable home game past 10 years
These I consider the top five for ULM. There were many other games with significance both for and against the program but these 5 top the list.

October 6, 2001: ULM 19, North Texas 17. This was the only conference loss that UNT would have for the first four years in the Sun Belt.

November 5, 2005: FIU 31, ULM 29. This loss cost the Warhawks (then the Indians) a solo Sun Belt Conference championship (they ended up sharing with ASU and ULL at 5-2 records) and a bowl game in Lafayette. FIU scored two TD's on a interception and fumble return in a game where ULM was clearly the better team. We still had a chance in the end to win on a field goal but the kick was just off to the side on the last play of the game.

October 6, 2007: ULM 30, ASU 13. Arkansas State was so heavily favored in this game that when they jumped out to a 13-0 lead everyone thought the game was over. That's when the ASU "Indians" got on the bus and went back to Jonesboro, leaving some imposters to play out the rest of the game. It set the stage for ULM's first non-losing season (6-6) since becoming D-1.

November 10, 2007: ULM 28, Grambling State 14. The final score really should have been 42-0, ULM, but the Warhawks kept shooting themselves in the foot when they were in position to score. This was a historic first game between the two schools and Malone Stadium had its first sellout with over 30,000 in attendance. The pre-game atmosphere was definitely big-time and even the Grambling fans enjoyed the experience. We hope to do it again. The next week ULM would beat the Crimson Tide of Alabama.

November 1, 2008: ULM 31, Troy 30. Again, another heavily favored SBC team came to Malone. This time they were defeated by a 2nd-string QB and an offense with multiple injured players on the sidelines. The Warhawks got on a roll that was hard for the Trojans to stop and Troy's last-chance field goal that bounced off the crossbar was the symbol of the frustration they felt that night. BTW, that was a darn good kick, just six inches too short.

I remember that one for several reason. Key play of the game, Leonard loses his shoe down in ULM territory and after putting back on doesn't have time to get the snap off. The penalty kills what appeared to be the stake in the heart drive. Also memorable as one of the absolute worst performances by a healthy Corey Leonard. He was turning down open receivers and heaving it deep into double and triple coverage. Memorable also as the last road trip Kelly Sims and I took together. He was killed in a freak car accident about two weeks before the next season opened.

I'm surprised you didn't list Nov 26, 2005. All ULM needed was to win at home to clinch the Sun Belt outright. Close game at half, ASU had beaten UNT with that game ending about the time the teams went in for the half. Listening to the Cajun announcers after a score they said the PA announcer had repeatedly announced that ASU won meaning the Cajuns were out but ULM could still go with a rally. There was no rally as the Cajuns buried them.

That's generally not how it's viewed in Monroe. Yes, we could have won the SBC that night but ULL was playing like they were the Texas Longhorns. I don't take anything away from how well they played. They deserved the win.

If we had taken care of business and put FIU away then it wouldn't have mattered if ULL beat us or not. If we go into the ULL game with a 6-0 conference record, we could have played all our 2nd stringers and with a loss we'd still be sole champions of the SBC at 6-1. The FIU game is where we lost that championship, not the ULL game, and that's why that game is in the top five and most memorable. That ULL game is actually not even top ten on the lists we've had on our board.

Me too! Don't let Sot fool you, their announcer was so pissed he kept giving the score of the Ark. State game. Most of their fans left at halftime! That game meant more then he is willing to admit period!03-lmfao

I thought that was hilarious that the announcer kept saying that score; isn't that what kept UL from going to the NO Bowl?

Yep, Ark. State owned the tie breaker over the Cajuns because of the come from behind win in Jonesboro earlier in the season. ULM owned the tie breaker over Ark. St with a win earlier in the season. All ULM had to do was win at home and they didn't, so the FIU game wasn't any more important then beating the Cajuns04-rock

Do any of you yahoos think that the reason the announcer kept calling the ASU score was because it was might have been of some interest to the fans there, especially those from Lafayette? Would you have preferred he stay quiet and not mention it at all? Are you telling me that Cajun fans didn't really care about the ASU score?

You guys were ahead for good in the second quarter and it wasn't getting any prettier for us...and we knew it. The ASU score calls were not for our benefit...whether we won or lost it wouldn't have mattered what the ASU score was so we didn't really care how that game turned out. The Cajuns were the ones were had an ear to the ASU game, not us. We just wanted to let you know that you weren't bowling that year either.

No, sorry, but whatever you think, the FIU game was what did ULM in because we should have won that one easily. We know it should have never come down to the ULL contest.

I thought that was hilarious that the announcer kept saying that score; isn't that what kept UL from going to the NO Bowl?

Actually Sot, the staff did not want the team to know the outcome of the ASU game, so no one knew it until the ULM announcer spilled the beans. Of course it wasn't for your benefit, because he knew ASU was going bowling over the Cajuns. And he did it often in the fourth quarter with attitude, never giving the scores of the other SBC games.

As for the game not having championship ramifications, I call that a load of crap by any standard. You had a rival at home, in literally a championship game. All ULM had to do was win the game and go bowling. The game mattered because despite the loss at FIU, all ULM had to do is win and you had the SBC championship. Stating that the championship should have never come down to the last game of the season, is like Cajun fans saying we should have won the ASU game and the game at ULM wouldn't have mattered. Its an idiotic statement period!04-chairshot

I do understand what SOT is saying though. The FIU game should have been a ULM win (I didn't watch the game, but I'm assuming you guys made some mistakes that cost you the game), where as, there wasn't a chance to beat UL in that last game because UL played amazing.

And you can't say that the announcer wasn't trying to piss off the Cajuns by saying that ASU score, because I think he said the final score a few times.
