It appeared in the Lafayette paper first written by Parrott and picked up by the Monroe paper.

Here's the redo of the story as it appeared in the printed version for Warhawk readers:

Wow, so Tabby is edited or "redo" a piece by another journalist, employed by the same Corporation. Seems like a dishonest and even low class move to pacify a small group of paranoid fans up in Monroe. No intergrity practiced at the Monroe Star.

Actually, it appears both Tabby and Joshua just compiled a breakdown of different team reports that were written by each SBC member's local writer. This is evidenced by the fact that she gave such said writers credit at the end of each copy. The difference with both articles is that each writer focused their reports on their local team. No harm no foul...

Guess I've got different standards. Personally I would be thrilled if we could convince papers across the league to make room for a brief weekly update from each beat writer about the team they cover. It would be good (and cheap) for the papers to do since they are getting content from 8 writers in return for one partial column.

I spoke to Josh about the article today and the article was edited. He stated that it is accepted practice, because it has been done in the past. He doesn't particularly care for the practice, but leaves it up to the local Gannett paper. He did say that he doesn't do it, if the article is sent to the Lafayette paper, he plays no role in any editing. Again, it goes back to the integerity of the local sports editor.

I have no problem with the extra coverage, but editing orginal articles or changing quotes because someone doesn't agree with the acronym used is completely dishonest in my book. I've never changed quotes when interviewing athletes, even if I don't like the use of certain acronyms. These are professional journalist are they not?....Or they are suppose to be at least.

RE: Great article in the Monroe paper about Sunbelt football!
I emailed Mr. Parrott today to get the low down on this story. He asked all of the newspaper beat reporters to provide some feedback on the top position battle for the school they cover. He then released the final product to all of the Sun Belt reporters on Saturday afternoon. Personally, I like the idea. Hope to read more stories like it in the future.
