Won't be used because these guys didn't go to Harvard or any Ivy League school. Somebody ought to listen to these guys - this could actually create some (temporary) jobs.

I realize that the concept is similiar to the booms used now but this wouldn't require the purchase of additional booms. Anybody could do it.

All right, I'm going to say it.

But only because I love you southerners and I know you all know I am good guy...... plus I was born in Birmingham, Alabama (no shite, really.)

But seriously.

How can anyone take a guy with that thick a southern accent, with that slow a drawl, with that thick a set of overalls, with that thick a belly, and with looks like a recently trimmed mullet (business in the front!) and an oil soaked rag hangin' front the back pocket - seriously?

I know making fun o' the South is all the rage, but ....03-lmfao

BTW the reason hay is not used in oil spills is not because it doesn't work, it's because the oil soaked hay has a higher profile on the water, which allows the wind to push the hay all over the place, much farther then if the oil was allowed to float on the water by itself.

Plus, once the hay oil hits the shore, it is more difficult to clean up in any geography outside of a sand beach.

And most importantly there are synthetic materials that soak up the oil more effeciently, and are easier to utilize.

Good story, short on practicality.

I would have taken these guys more seriously if they would have drank the water after taking the hay out.....

Well, your birthplace explains why you are conservative but became less so over time living in a more liberal north.

Btw, I think the guy you are talking about is SOAF.

I'm a tad bit older, you should know that if you were paying attention. One thing to be thankful for, is that Roberta is too stupid to have offspring so luckily his ignorance will die with him.

Any idiot can have offspring(you are a perfect example). It takes intelligence to know that the earth can't handle everyone having so many kids. Of course, you don't care about the planet so you don't really care.

If you rationalize that to have children is bad for the planet, that the world is better off without children by you, fine with me, but I am reminding you, that your suicide bomber mentality is not for everyone.

I don't know but we are running low on clean non-salt water. We have many people who are starving. If resources were split equally over the world(socialism) then we would probably have enough currently but we are probably teetering on the edge of not being able to do so. Just an opinion though.

I haven't seen anything to suggest that we are running out of fresh water. According to this

http://www.globalchange.umich.edu/global...water.html

total withdrawl of water leveled off in 1985 & per capita withdrawls have been falling ever since (the graph does stop in 1995 but given that the cause of the decline is improvements in agriculture I doubt it's that much worse now.). In the event that we do start to run out, the price of water will rise enough to make desalinization competitive. Of course, eliminating subsidies which encourage over-consumption will reduce the likelihood of that day ever coming. And it should be noted that previous projections of water consumption have been significatly overestimated so current projections should be taken with a grain of salt.

No doubt there is a problem with contaminated water & water born diseases in developing countries. There are simple fixes to those problems, fixes that have already been proven to work. The biggest impediments? As usual, corrupt & inefficient governments more concerned with enriching their coffers than actually helping their people.

As for food, the problem is almost never a lack of resources. Again, it's the corrupt & inefficient governments and the grinding poverty they create. Socialism isn't the answer. If the Soviet Union couldn't feed its own people, how can socialism feed the world? This is not to say that only socialist governements are to blame - there are a wide variety of corrupt and inefficient governments out there.

http://www.worldhunger.org/articles/Lear...202002.htm

Quote:The world produces enough food to feed everyone. World agriculture produces 17 percent more calories per person today than it did 30 years ago, despite a 70 percent population increase. This is enough to provide everyone in the world with at least 2,720 kilocalories (kcal) per person per day (FAO 2002, p.9). The principal problem is that many people in the world do not have sufficient land to grow, or income to purchase, enough food.

Just wondering where her thinks all the water is escaping to. Maybe the VRWC is using the shuttles to haul it to extraterrestrial container ships floating in space.

I don't know but I KNOW you are short of brain cells.

Anything greater than 2 brain cells would exceed your brain cell count. If you are worried about not enough fresh water, start collecting it. Just give in to your Fresh Water Tourette Syndrome.

Many with TS experience additional neurobehavioral problems including inattention; hyperactivity and impulsivity (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder—ADHD) and related problems with reading, writing, and arithmetic; and obsessive-compulsive symptoms such as intrusive thoughts/worries and repetitive behaviors. For example, worries about dirt and germs may be associated with repetitive hand-washing, and concerns about bad things happening may be associated with ritualistic behaviors such as counting, repeating, or ordering and arranging. People with TS have also reported problems with depression or anxiety disorders, as well as other difficulties with living, that may or may not be directly related to TS. Given the range of potential complications, people with TS are best served by receiving medical care that provides a comprehensive treatment plan.

Mayor West: MY GOD! Someone's stealing my water!
Meg: But it just went down the drain.
Mayor West: They hit when you least expect it.
(Waters plant.)
Mayor West: SHOW YOURSELVES, COWARDS! I've spent $1,000 dollars of the tax payers money trying to find these thieves and I'll spend $1,000,000 if that's what it takes!
Meg: You know, I think I have my story.
Mayor West: NO! WAIT! You can't print that! Thank God she's just a figment of my imagination.
