Yes that is exactly what happened.

The only thing the Democrats/liberals did was to sit on the sidelines as the conservatives complained. I am sure that if they had known Alito was behind Door #2, they would have tried to save her nomination. But they were enjoying the political headache that Bush was dealing with.

"Another Miers" in terms of Obama failing to go "all in" to save the nomination if there is determined opposition. And I don't think she is qualified.

The Republicans just need to stand up to her and ask questions. No Rubber Stamp. You don't have to "Bork" her.. just ask her hard questions and see if she screws up.

She has no "paper trail" in terms of no Judicial Opinions, since she has never been a Judge.. so she is pretty much 'open season'.

Nice. You can't make a good argument as to why she shouldn't be confirmed so just bash her for her looks. Typical.

As a liberal, how do you feel about Obama not nominating any women for SCOTUS?
If the person is qualified, I don't give a damn if the person is male or female. I suspect that isn't what you wanted to hear was it S&M?

I have no doubt that she is a leftist, but not so far left as Sotermier. Good strategy - go with the far left candidate in his first appointment, when he still had political capital to spend. Now that his party faces a tough battle in November, go with a bit more of a traditional liberal for his second pick.

She will be confirmed.

She has the potential of being another Harriet Miers. Just depends on how dirty the Republicans want to get.
03-lmfao You have been watching/listening to rightwing media talking points again.

Quote:In her 1993 article "Regulation of Hate Speech and Pornography After R.A.V," for the University of Chicago Law Review, Kagan writes:

"I take it as a given that we live in a society marred by racial and gender inequality, that certain forms of speech perpetuate and promote this inequality, and that the uncoerced disappearance of such speech would be cause for great elation."

How exactly are those damning her, when that line is followed by this one?

Quote:I do not take it as a given that all governmental efforts to regulate such speech thus accord with the Constitution.

Now, I can only see the first page of the article, so I don't know what she goes on to say, but I'm sure we'll find out.
