I'm looking forward to your answers on issues where your desire to project government force to support your beliefs will be a little more obvious.
Once again, GTS dives into the middle w/o any scholastic integrity to his post.
Correct me if I'm wrong GTS, but I get the sense that you'll be the judge to how much we like "freedom" or "liberty" based on these answers. Is that right.
Well I can think of at least three fallacies w/ this approach. Then I'll point to just how poor some of your questions are.
1. Who are you to judge "freedom" or "liberty"? Why do you get to define those terms? GGniner pointed out repeatedly that your definitions don't match those of the founding fathers...yet you keep coming back to this spot.
You bring in your own terms, basically self-centered rants about how you should be able to do whatever you want. And if not, then the man is repressin' you. (Monty Python reference). You know when this idea got traction? In the 1960s. This is exactly how all those "counter-cultural" hippies thought life should be.
How about that? Your ideas about social liberalism matches exactly those of the generation that is the most fiscally liberal/irresponsible in US history.
2. As I alluded to earlier, your definitions don't match those used in the early eras of our country. They were not what propelled this country to the success it has seen. On what basis do you claim they are what the country should adopt in order to remain successful?
3. Finally, you have to accept that you are not fully free. There are all sorts of restraints on your freedoms, physical, biological restraints. You accept these. In fact to deny them leads to harm or death. Some restraints are relatively well understood, others may be a puzzle. Nevertheless, they are empirically verified to exist.
So, if these restraints exist for an individual, why is it so hard to believe that restraints exist for a society? Whether you understand them fully or not, history is rife with examples of moral restraints benefitting a socity, while ignoring them leads to harm or death.
Moving on:
5) Would you support government mandated teaching of intelligent design in school?
In school? YOu mean a taxpayer funded school? Why are we being forced to pay for schools? Haha, you aren't even a good libertarian.
6) Would you support government mandated prayer time in school?
See above.
8) Would you support government bans on stem cell research?
What exactly does this mean? Pretty vague here. Not well thought out.
10) Would you support censoring or outright banning books like "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins from all K-12 education libraries?
Once again, GTS imposes his tax payer funded schools on all of us.
11) Would you support the government keeping prostitution illegal?
Hmm, is this the sort of prostitution that has kidnapped tens of thousands of women and girls, and forced them into lifestyles they don't want? The kind that keeps them indebted to their pimps, so they have no means to live on their own? The kind that gives them diseases and other health problem? The kind of lifestyle that leaves women enslaved, and w/o options when their looks have gone?
Here's a tip, "Secret Diary of a Call Girl" is not the norm. It's not anything like what goes on in most places. Let's deal with reality first.
