Seems that you're the one who stays upset just because I call the Cajuns (as most do) ULL or UL-Lafayette when I post. It just happens to be the names that the vast majority of folks use. It is a few, select Cajun fans that edit and change names in post/article to fit their agenda or complain loudly when others don't toe their line.

Come on MG61, I was just having a little fun with you. As for editing, I don't spend anytime doing it. There are enough examples of the correct name out there now, despite the phone calls from Andy, Barney,Floyd and Goober from Louisiana-Monore!

I think one reason ULM is mad over the name stuff is that if ULL is called the University of Louisiana, then that just makes the University of Louisiana at Monroe look like a division of UL.

That is understandable, but Barney and freinds go far beyond the us of UL, its everything else as well.

Personally, I prefer to call Louisiana Cajuns, simply UL or Louisiana. They are much bigger and have much more history than ULM. They also changed their name first (twice) and ULM followed along trying to keep up. ULM has a tendency to do that, they did the same thing with La Neck and moving to Div IA football. I can understand their desire to remain competitive for recruiting students but really don't think they should have the ability to undermine another school's desires in the process. Texas State AT San Marcos was the first school to change their name. Therefore they are considered "the" Texas State now. Though UT AT Austin is the full name, most people just call them UT. UL was the first school to change its name and even had a full class of graduates go through commencement with that name on their degrees. They waited another 20 years to get another shot at that name, got it - and it got totally screwed up by the jealous neighbor to the North. I can understand Monroe's desire to be called something other than NE Louisiana... but why did they have to screw up UL's vision? Why not come up with another name and go through all the struggles to sell it to the State (like UL did)? They could have been Louisiana A&M or even Louisiana University! One could be UL and the other LU... instead, they are both stuck with a city attached and that just sucks. So I will respect the wishes of UL and call them just that. They have earned it.
