Matt Hayes' top 10:
1. RB Allen Bradford, USC. Pete Carroll's misuse of Bradford was one of his biggest mistakes at USC.
2. RB John Clay, Wisconsin. The prototypical Wisconsin tailback: big, physical and not nearly as plodding as you think.
3. RB Alfred Morris, Florida Atlantic. A punishing runner who would be a media star at a better-known school.
4. RB Vai Taua, Nevada. The perfect grinder—with deceptive moves and speed—for Nevada's pistol offense.
5. RB Evan Royster, Penn State. Doesn't get nearly enough credit for his productive, powerful style.
6. RB Harvey Unga, BYU. Unique combination of power running and soft hands as a receiver.
7. RB Broderick Green, Arkansas. Short-yardage specialist should get more carries this season.
8. QB Ricky Dobbs, Navy. Ask Missouri if Dobbs is more than a service academy novelty: 30 carries, 166 yards, three TDs in Texas Bowl victory.
9. QB Josh Nesbitt, Georgia Tech. Grinds out tough yards in Tech's triple option, and also has breakawayspeed.
10. RB Joe Martinek, Rutgers. Powerful, versatile back who thrives between the tackles.

04-cheers
