Damn, he nearly made it from halfcourt...what a great effort from Butler.
What an awesome tournament, minus the Duke winning part.

Butler got jobbed by the Ref's consistently. How many times did Sheyer travel on the way to the basket. Zebras let Duke play more physically than Butler. Howard getting whistled for 2 highly questionable early foul calls made a significant difference in this game. Just imagine if the final shot had gone in!

RE: Come on Butler!!!
I CANNOT believe I "forgot" to watch the final. DOH !
Senility is taking its toll. Cannot even remember the last time I did NOT watch the title game....
I was not feeling particularly well Monday and took day off from work. Then I was messed up and was preoccupied by the HVAC tech working on my home system who was delayed several hrs diagnosing a rare problem & looking for a part not commonly found at many distributors.
ONLY" cost me $200 total.
By 6pm my mind set was to get out of the house and finish tasks undone from weekend like car wash, pickup dress shirts at cleaners and prescriptions at Osco etc etc...came home, let dog out/in, poured fresh water in bowl, put his fresh food out, reviewed on line my daily work calendar for Tuesday and went to bed early having to awaken at 4:45 this am. Lots to finish at work having missed on Monday a few key deadlines like TIMESHEET & PAYROLL entry & approvals due by noon today plus coordinate a bldg wide tornado drill at 10am !!!
Apparently Butler gave Duke all it could handle. My colleague and her husband and son are emotionally drained this am. The good luck BU blue Easter egg I colored for them wasn't quite enuff.
Those Bulldogs sure were tuff, wirey and scrappy Sat vs MSU.

I knew someone would say that. Geez, get over it people. Butler did NOT get jobbed. Stop with the BS conspiracy theories.

I think there were a few questionable calls, but Duke usually has a Ref helping them out a little bit. Some of those players could get an oscar for the acting job they do out on the court, Wisconsin is the same way. I can't stand that style of play where you focus on drawing fouls instead of running a creative offense or defense.

I thought the refs were bad, but that they were equally bad. Duke's big guys were allowed to maul Butler on rebounds, but Butler spent the entire game clutching and grabbing on defense.
Also, Wisconsin's offense is actually very efficient and isn't really all that reliant on getting fouled. Their FT rate the last 7 years isn't much higher than the national average, and when you take into account how much they win and are getting fouled at the end of the games, it's probably just average in that sense. They invert the floor and their big guys can shoot.
If you don't like watching them play, I can understand that, but their offense isn't built around getting fouled. The offense they run is actually pretty creative and unique in the college game.
