South Florida - Georgetown game thread
It's tied 4-4 early. The Bulls look ready to play so far...

Georgetown 31, South Florida 19
Halftime.
Georgetown looks too physical for South Florida at this point. I think South Florida needs to hit some outside shots to open up the lane if they are going to get back in this game.

Yes, sadly, it looks like it's all over for USF as far as the dim NCAA hopes are concerned. Suddenly, the talent and recruiting gap between the programs seems quite evident. Will probably take some torrid outside shooting - the great equalizer - in the 2nd half to change the outcome.
Fact is, USF has now played two straight halves of bad basketball. We've been outscored 65-47 since the start of the second half of the Depaul game.
Of course i won't be too upset if GT wins, LOL. :)

USF really laid an egg today with the terrible shooting. And we had our chances, given how foul-prone GT was all game long.
Well, now i go from sort of having to root against Georgetown, or feeling guilty for rooting for them, to relishing the chance to WHIP A** on Syracuse!
As for USF, hopefully we can host an NIT game? Not likely given our attendance history, but maybe? IIRC, we haven't hosted or won an NIT game since 1995.

USF's weakness was on display today. The team is NOT a good shooting team and depends on drives to basket and staels to score. We need some outside shooters.
Anyways, its a successful year for USF at 20-12 and an NIT thats best season in 20 years.

Yes, and it was tough to take over the lane with a talented behemoth like Monroe in there.
In 94-95, even though we finished at 18-12, we did advance to round 3 of the NIT, so i'm not sure that this year qualifies as better than that one. If we win 1 NIT game, then yes.

I remember that last game where we were a missed Chucky Atkins free throw from advancing to the NIT Final Four.
IMO, the season could end today and it would be the best season in our program's history.

Yep it was our last year in Metro before we joined CUSA and the team we lost to was Marquette who became our conference mate that next year.

I see the logic - 20 wins and a 9-9 record in a BCS conference - but still, i can't look past the 90 and 92 teams that made the NCAAs. Getting there is the bottom line, IMO.
