Thank you State
In the Daily Herald today, there is an article about u-46 school district. Last Monday, they proposed a budget that would require $31 million in budget cuts. Now comes the report that the State is going to cut $1 billion in funding to primary and secondary education. U-46 loses another $29 million in funding. Now U-46 will have to consider $60 million or over 12% of its budget. Also, CPS is looking at a $1 billion dollar deficit. Think education is going to improve?
I am tired of mis management in our government. Politicians lining their pockets and their friends pockets.
I am numb as to what U-46 will look like next year. Anyone want to buy a house in Bartlett?

Why not go the socialist route that is so fashionable these days? Just give your house to RobertN. At least it stays within the Huskie family.

Look at today's Tribune article on superintendent pay. While the left screams about overpaid business executives, there is a deafening silence on educational admininstration costs.

Nah, I don't want his house. THis isn't a socialist country and will not be(at least in my-or if I have kids-their lifetimes). As for his complaining, I think it is funny that the state is cutting spending(like Republicans want) and he complains. Maybe the cities in the school district should lower taxes to draw new growth to pay for the loss of revenue.

CPS, per SunTimes, told all sophomore coaches for the spring to not begin practicing. They might be cutting out one level of sports. This will happen with U-46 next year.

Cutting the wrong things like teachers in classrooms, sports, and after schoolactivities. They should look at bloated pensions and massive Superintent and overhead costs. Cutting cost in the wrong areas is what everybody is upset about.

i agree w/ HuskieJ. Education is the foundation of this country and will determine our future. Gov't needs to cut from Pensions, and other unsustainable and bloated areas before they take a scalpel to education.

Look at the right, they have no problems with overpaid executives and their huge bonuses(which the companies claim is to recruit the best talent) but screams at the top of their lungs when school districts pay a higher wage to recruit the bast talent. Besides, if they didn't get paid well, how would the NIU Education grads be able to give $$$ to HASF?

Ah, there you go again. You still don't understand whose money this is.
Those executive salaries come from revenues generated by providing a service or a product. (Let's not talk about bank bailouts right now).
Those school admin wages are paid with EVERYONE's (well, at least those of us who pay) taxes.
I can decide to purchase or not purchase something from that company.
I can't choose to not pay my taxes.
And, who said that us righties support ridiculous executive pay? We just don't think it is a government issue to fix.
Look at the Trib article and correlate number of pupils to the pay of a given superintendent. Then come back and talk to me.

How about a 5-10% pay cut across the board? That's what some corporations did last year when they were squeezed financially. Oh wait, there are union contracts in the education system and state government which are an obstacle from being able to achieve fiscal responsibility.
