Here is NASA's 8-day land surface temperature anomalies (vs. readings duuring similar periods 2000-2008) from Feb. 18 - Feb. 25:

Seems like the pattern held for the whole season. Canada/Alaska, the African Sahara and western Australia got the milder air. Everyone else was colder than normal.

The whole winter was pretty stagnant from beginning to end in North America:

1. A blocking high pressure off eastern Canada
2. Moist El Nino jet stream hugging the southern US

Result: Tons of snow for mid-Atlantic

THat is a pretty neat map. What is your point for posting it? Are you trying to say it proves something?
