RE: Tsunami!!!!
When they said 8 foot, I predicted 2. That's the shape of science today.

RE: Tsunami!!!!
To give the experts some slack...This is really a new science and they are trying to err toward caution. More intel will be gathered after this event and the predictions will likely become more accurate over time.

Guys, if they'd have predicted an 18" and it was 8', heads would have rolled.

I was just wondering what Torchy is thinking about all these earthquakes-Haiti, Chile and DeKalb(ok, this one was kind of a joke)? Is he clenching his Bible in anticipation of the end days? 03-lmfao

RE: Tsunami!!!!
Where do you see any cheap shots? They were wrong. Can't point that out? Another of your new rules?

I believe I'm like everyone here in that they should err on the side of caution. But to be sensational is wrong. People will die next time because they wont listen. And I blame the media for a big part of it. I'll bet you there were others looking at the data who came up with a far closer prediction, but were rejected by TV news. There's that unspoken but known by all, if you want to be on TV and quoted, you've got to go BIG. If you say 18 inches and your colleagues are willing to say 8 foot, even though they are looking at the same data, they are the ones who will get the air time. Don't worry about the embarrassment later, you always have the "err on the side of caution" excuse to fall back on. This policy serves no good purpose and can cause harm later.

Ii must be getting old. Back in the day we called them tidal waves. But I guess if you're gonna give something a Japanese name then you should probably expect it to be smaller.

Racist? You must be young....the Japanese used to be considered the best at taking big, bulky items and making them smaller and more convenient, like radios and other electronics. In fact, they were so successful they then applied their techniques to themselves so they can fit more people in those small apartments in Tokyo and be closer to the ground during their sneak attacks.

Would you believe they engineered themselves to be smaller so they eat and drink less and have a smaller carbon footprint?
