Wow. This is the sort of speech I crave coming from executive offices. In my current state of MD, in OH, in AZ, etc. The folks in Colorado Springs probably are looking for this too.

I hope Christie follows thru with all of this. I wish him the best.

When I like something I tend to gush which I don't like to do. I just hope the Christie and the our new Virginia Governor are able to follow through on their pledged cuts despite what will be withering attacks from liberals and the media.

Agreed. Christie did the right thing, he took the attack to them. It's easy for the media to play up teacher's retirement...it's much harder for them to play it up when you see the actual numbers.

Reagan did this sort of thing pretty well ("Great communicator") it's one of the important traits of a leader.

The GOP has floundered in this area since Reagan. (Bush 42, Quayle, Dole, Bush 44, McCain). Rumsfeld and Cheney can be articulate, but they tend to be too impatient with people.

I soon hope that NC will adopt such an attitude. I don't think things like retirement and state workers are the problems here but we do have a huge state-pork problem.

Odds of follow through = slim.
