That's how I took it...but it was fuzzy enough that there were many interpretations.
Some people have claimed that's "genius" b/c both sides see Audi as good from this ad. I've seen enough negative response to question the genius aspect of it.

i took it as orwellian, but in the sense that they'll come for you if you don't go green, not if you dont buy an audi

Yeah, that's the way it came across to me. It was tongue-in-cheek, and pretty silly, but I think that's what they were getting at.
Besides, it's always good to hear Cheap Trick is still working.

I interpreted as satire ridiculing over-the-top, authoritarian enviro-activists, though I readily assumed the whole time that wasn't really the ad's intention.
