You of all people should know all about hostile home crowds towards visiting fans. Back off. We've had a hard season. Let us have our moment. We'll be pulling for you in every other game but ours.

Wrong. Every game they win is a game further away from catching them.

I was in 211 with several ASU fans and we weren't at all rowdy and as soon the shot went in a UALR fan turned around and flipped us the double bird. Class 100%. Wasn't the same guy who honked and flipped us off as we were walking into the arena as he drove into the donor lot, that guy was older.

Remember UALR is the rare program that managed to have a player, a coach, and AD tossed for bad behavior over three consecutive games.

Your halo polishing is getting a little ridiculous. You guys don't want our low class rube fans, find another conference. I'm sure the A10, Horizon or Valley are begging.

I am likely guilty, as charged, of criticizing ASU fans. The reality is you have a lot of great fans. A lot more than we do. Many are obviously willing to make the trip to Little Rock (although I assume many of those in attendance are locals who happen to be ASU alums). Your fans vigorously support their team, they wear their school colors, and they razz the opposing team. That's what real fans (i.e. fanatics) do. We have too few of those and so there's likely some jealously involved. Certainly there are some "jerks" among your fans, but that's true every where. Don't take it personally. That's why we call it a rivalry- we are going to criticize your players, fans, mascot, home town, or whatever else we can think of. I guess that's part of what makes it "fun".

Your argument is BS. If the home crowd is hostile toward the visitor, then the home crowd better be mature enough to have it dished back.

Give you a break because you are having a bad year? Wow, a sympathy pass? The situation was exactly reversed last year with UALR leading the division, I didn't get a sympathy pass then.

I sit in 211, and I saw or heard no ASU fans that were rowdy, and I wasn't the one who flipped you off. And I realize that we probably have a few who might do that. What I was referring to is the talk on your board from some of those who weren't even at the game. Plus the cry baby whining of some ASU fans, and are quick to point the finger when hog fans make every excuse when losing. Your team could have and should have won the game. You should have put the game away when you had a ten or twelve point lead. You didn't. Our guys simply outplayed yours down the stretch. Some of your fans posted the very same things.

I remember the AD incident, and I remember a time or two Steve had a problem with some fans on the road when he was an assistant, but don't remember one of our coaches getting tossed. Refresh my memory of the AD, the player and the coach getting tossed in three consecutive games.

I sit in 211 and I didn't see anything that you mentioned, but I know there are always jerks at every game, and no team has the exclusive on them. I do sit on the first row, so I can't see what goes on behind me, but fortunately these type of rude folks who misrepresent every school are few in number.

I was hoping you'd introduce yourself to me when you were there, and I looked around but had no idea how to recognize you. I did tell you exactly where I was sitting, but I know it's difficult to find someone you don't know. I agree that it's not your obligation to give us any sympathy. And you have every right to feel insulted if someone behaved poorly toward you and your family. A fan should have the right to attend a game as a visitor without being insulted. I have been to Jonesboro twice and have never had any problem, although I have heard that some on this board have had some problems through the years, and that sort of explains their feelings.

We have very little chance to win anything in the regular season this year, so I hope you guys do well, exept when we play you. I'm probably in the minority that think it's good for the state when Arkansas teams win, so enjoy your nice season, and let's hope we meet in the finals of the SBC tournament. Keep posting on our board. You've always kept us well informed on what's going on up in Jonesboro.04-cheers

You've never seen me make one bad comment towards ASU or any of it's fans. Jerks are at every game, in every crowd, especially a rivalry game. The BS argument is showing up to an ASU-UALR game and evidently expecting butlers to greet you at the door and serve caviar during halftime. It's a RIVALRY GAME.

That said, I'm sorry if you and your family were insulted at the game. You and any ASU fans are always welcome at the games, as far as I'm concerned. I hate that kind of stuff, but don't act surprised when it happens. It's like a vegan going to a steakhouse and being shocked when there's dead animal on the plate.

Heh heh ... When was the last time a UALR player was kicked off the team for being a thug, firing a pistol in the air and in a crowd. When was the last time UALR played a guy who was arrested for drugs and counterfeiting? The Secret Service does not take that lightly. Brown, by his own admission, will soon be a convicted felon and more than likely will do some time behind bars. It is unfortunate. UALR doesn't need to polish its halo. Obviously Brady believes in "win at any cost."
At least Pelphrey had the guts to sit his players on the bench and take his licks. Brady needs to man up and do the same.

Really. How about the trip a few years back to Jonesboro when one of our fans had to get in the face of 'Lil Injun to get him to back off harassing his wife. And that was the official mascot. You have a short memory.

RE: Poorest bunch of losers I've ever seen
I apologize. The broad brush really got under my skin.

I don't agree with playing Brown but I also understand that he has yet to be charged with a crime. I don't like it but I understand the argument. I also know from working the criminal justice system, he may never be charged if there are others involved and they are higher up the food chain and he is willing to testify. Arnika Brown was indicted on 11 felony counts of the same. WKU couldn't do anything to her without violating the school's written student conduct policy that prohibitted punishing students for infractions outside of school that do not endanger the safety of others. She pled guilty to two misdemeanor counts and will come into Jack next Saturday as WKU's #1 or #2 scorer. At ASU, he can't be sanctioned until he has gone through the student discipline system because he isn't eligible for interim suspension because he isn't a direct threat to himself or others and because he hasn't been charged. One thing I learned in my time at UALR is that when you adopt rules that say when a government actor can and cannot take action against a person, you have to follow them, even when you don't like the result. I don't like the result but rules are rules.

Brown was signed by Vanderbilt. Played there a year. Left academically eligible for junior college so he could go to another school without missing a year of play. There were never any hints or allegations he was a "thug" at Vandy or in junior college. Just a kid who went to class, went to practice, didn't like it in Nashville and wasn't a great fit for their system despite playing 13 minutes a game at Vanderbilt.

As to all the other incidents, they involved Nutt signees. He was a cancer on the program and ASU is facing problems with the NCAA due to poor academics under Nutt. I could tell you some real stories about Nutt and his players that never made the papers about lack of moral compass, particularly on the personal level. There is a big difference in Nutt signing kids who were academically suspect in high school and in junior college and the kids Brady signs. There is a big difference in their non-academic backgrounds as well.

As to my other comment. Peterson got tossed at Illinois and that was part of a three game string that saw Shields tossed for a double tech and player (can't remember who) tossed for a double tech. I understand Steve has done stuff off-season to work on his issues and I commend that because I remember when Porter was there and ASU event management had to get Shields out from behind the bench because he was yelling at ASU fans behind the bench.

I don't know if that was Pelphrey's decision alone or the decision was made by the University. Rape is a pretty serious offense, and it might look bad to have someone possibly involved in a rape to be playing. Of course they should have known that no charges would be filed against a hog player. Are they ever?

At the same time, based on a comment in the paper by the ASU lawyer that Brady wouldn't have any comment at the time, lead me to believe that the school was going to play $20 Brown until the feds did something. In other words, I'm not sure it was Brady's decision to play him before a trial. And this is all speculation on my part.

Considering that university counsel is the one doing the talking, and is invoking Buckley, it is very likely he's been told Brown is to get substantially similar game activity.

Remember Brady suspended him indefinitely, then he's back on the team and the university lawyer is doing all the talking. Buckley would only apply to an academic record and wouldn't be triggered unless the university has initiated or at least is contemplating action against him.

We don't live in the era of Bear Bryant and the Junction Boys any more.

Unfortunately it only takes a very small number of fans to give your whole fan base a bad rap- especially if you happen to be the person mistreated. I can't recall ever being mistreated by opposing fans in any venue I have traveled to- and there have been many. I'm sure if that happened anywhere, I would have a lot of animousity to that school and fanbase, even though rationally I would know that those fans were a small minority. To be honest, if there were any ASU fans (who had been gloating most of the game) sitting around me Thursday night, I might have said some things in the heat of the moment (i.e. after Alex's shot went in) that I wouldn't be proud of this morning.

I would guess (and even bet) that there is no one who posts on this board who has been to more college basketball venues as a fan of the visiting team than I have in the last several years. From all of those venues, the ASU fans in Jonesboro have always proven to be the most boorish, rubish jerks I have ever come in contact with.

That doesn't include all ASU fans of course, and Arkstfan and certain others I know of are certainly exluded. But don't run the bull that fans have to be rude to visitors because they are passionate about their team. Don't you figure the fans at Kansas, Wake Forest, Temple, Xavier, Dayton, Charlotte, Arizona, etc. are pretty passionate about their teams? And none, and I mean NONE of those schools fans, act like some of the fools that support the Jonesboro team do.

Try Memphis. Cups of ice thrown into your section.
Middle Tenn in football great fans who'll feed you and treat you like royalty and then others who sit around the visitor section and are incapable stringing together four words without a profanity directed at you not your team.
LSU? Wow you don't want to go there at least in football.

Places like Texas, Texas A&M, you get treated well if you are some team they don't care about go with fans of a Big XII rivalry and your hair will curl.

Arkansas they'll burn your van, post it on the net and laugh about it or break out your back window (as happened to a friend of mine who went supporting another team).

If ASU fans are so envious of the Chickenhawgs to copy that type of behaviour, then they are just proving my point.
