I was hearing that NBC was planning on making the USA Network into a sports channel for NASCAR and college sports. Any truth this rumor. I knew that NBC/Comcast was goint to change VS into NBC Sports.

I'll pass on the NASCAR. I never did see the thrill in watching people making left hand turns all day long. The only exciting thing that happens in NASCAR is the crashes. But after surviving 3 auto accidents caused by driving while unconcious, I have no desire to see any more crashes...

I haven't heard that. USA will be a primary cable outlet for NBC's Olympic coverage as it has been in past years, but they've dumped their other sports properties over the past few years, like early round PGA coverage and US Open tennis. NBC doesn't have any NASCAR coverage anymore, so I don't know where they would pick any up. USA's focus is now competing with channels like TNT and F/X, channels that are turning out some of the best scripted series on TV. I happen to believe that some of the series that USA turns out are damn good and it would be a shame to move away from it.

If this was USA in the mid-80s where they did have NCAA football, NHL and had recently done a couple years as an MLB broadcaster, I'd be more inclined to believe in USA. But with the focus it has, I don't see it.

I think its more of a Comcast thing than a USA thing.
