Yup.

It's the ESPN Effect.

They made me hate Tebow, Favre, Brady, Pedro, Tiger...

They quite literally smother a sports fan.

Having said that, I'm hoping Tebow puts an Old Testament beatdown on the Criminal Todd this weekend. You know, back when God would smite you so you stayed smote.

Isn't it easier just to hate ESPN rather than holding it against those guys? 03-lmfao Problem solved... (this post brought to you by Harmony Remotes)

Oh, I do. I'm reminded of a line I heard somewhere: I watch ESPN for the same reason I shop at Walmart; because I HAVE to, dammit. 03-weeping03-lmfao

You shop at Walmart? The only thing I buy at Walmart is gasoline, because I don't want to go into the store. Because in the store, you run into this...

This season you have other kids like Case Keenum that have popped up into the spotlight. Let's not forget...We are talking about a student athlete...not a professional. Regardless of the how much we expect these young men to be able to perform...they are still only a couple of year out of High School. It is ALL about...What have you done lately!!!..not yesterday05-stirthepot

Nothing against either of these two guys, but you shouldn't make generalizations like that when talking about either the SEC or UH. And, I'd love to see Case get an award. He's a stud.

I actually go to Walmart sometimes for the express purpose seeing what has come out of the woodwork to shop. I'll see a ridiculous outfit and think to myself........ "they actually put that on, looked in the mirror, and thought - yeah, that looks good".

Btw, I don't hate Tebow at all, but do agree that he has been overhyped.

The Wal-Mart near me is a fascinating people-watching place. It truly reflects the demographics of Montgomery County. About half our population are nouveau riche moved up to the exurbs from Houston; the other half are redneck anarchists straight out of "Deliverance." It sometimes seems that half the cars in the Wal-Mart parking lot are Mercedes and Beemers, and the other half are pickups with their mufflers falling off. Inside the two groups mingle, often in very interesting ways.

RE: What does it say about our society that openly roots for Tebow to fail.
I don't dislike Tebow, but I can see why people don't. It's human nature to want to see flaws in people that they don't know personally. When one can't point that flaw out they tend to dislike the person. I guess they feel that flaws determine how human you are.

Another prime example is Kobe Bryant. When he first stepped into the league at age 18 until he was about 24-25 years old, outsiders didn't like him. He was primed to be the best basketball player ever, super intelligent (spoke 4 languages or something like that), and had never been in trouble a day in his life. He was just perfect and nobody could find anything wrong with him. Then he cheated on his wife and guess what, jersey and shoe sales went up that day, because at that point he had just become human in peoples eyes.

I guess it's just a part of human nature, people want to see flaws.

Toby Gerhart. He's very impressive.

His balance with the ball is spectacular. You just can't take him down. I describe him as a finesse/power hybrid.

Mike Alstott single handedly defeated my HS football team in the '91 IL HS playoffs.

The Alstott/Dunn combo for Tampa Bay was unstoppable in Madden '99 (I think it was 99). . .

That walmat was great.

I think Tebow gets the ESPN effect. Lots of verbal felatio.

Urban's come off as a douche since calling all 3 of his timeouts in the final minute in the pouring rain when down something like 3 touchdowns to WMU during the homecoming game.

That was a setup "Show" and we all should know it. Walmart provides some of the best values around. If you don't go there, you have no idea. Take a challenge and go view their fresh foods... absolutely the freshest/best veggies around. Competes well with Schnucks/Kroger/King Soopers etc.

Owl69/70/75 is pretty descriptive. Lots of Beemers/Benzes etc. AND their drivers are seen there more and more.

Some folks would look a gift horse in the mouth....I wouldn't. The only one you're kidding is yourself.

BTW, you should see how much Walmart buys from your local suppliers and how much sales tax revenue they provide to your local/state govts. You'd be SHOCKED ! 04-jawdrop

The dude from Stanford can get down the field. Watch him. 04-cheers

I don't know about Myer. It's easy to remain classy when you're sitting in the catbird's seat with two national championships. I wonder how he'd be if the pressure of the AD was on him. The way he talks you would think that Tebow is the only player on his team.
