RE: BCS committee expands to 12
"... The BCS is a five-game arrangement for post-season college football that is managed by the 11 Bowl Subdivision conferences and Notre Dame. ..."

While this is a small step in the right direction for the BCS, I've often wondered as to the legality of giving one single school (Notre Dame) so huge of a voice. How can this one school be given equal power to any one of the non-AQ conferences much less any one of the AQ conferences? ENTIRE CONFERENCES made up of 8+ other teams in the same NCAA division they compete in.

Why not Army? Why not Navy? Why not all FBS Independents combined (I'll answer that one myself -- there are only THREE of them versus no less than EIGHT in any non-AQ)?

I've always thought this special consideration for Notre Dame STUNK and made absolutely no sense, even if it's a technically "legal" arrangement. 03-hissyfit

Well, this really short curcuits any legal challenges which may be contemplated in the future. The BCS/NCAA College football playing field is becoming more level every day. There is now a seat at the table for every BCS conference (11) as well as one for the 'keepers of the faith'.

Also, given the layers of oversite that the BCS is creating (i.e. including presidential representation for each conference) there is no way there's going to be a play-off in the foreseeable future.

With Oklahoma St. getting waxed by a down Oklahoma and Pitt losing to WV over the weekend, there really is no scenario I can see where Boise doesn't get a BCS invite. I'd love to see unbeaten TCU v. unbeaten Cincy; that would be a nice battle of the up-and-comers.

Now strong performances by the non-AQ's this New Year and I think we can all call this a successful season.

I see it going like this (assuming higher rated wins remaining games and top 14 remains the same just different order):

BCS
Texas vs. Florida

Sugar replaces Florida with Bama.
Fiesta replaces Texas with Penn State

Orange has Georgia Tech and their pick of TCU*, Cincinnati *, Boise State , Virginia Tech (lost at GT this year), and BYU. I think they take TCU

Fiesta has the choice of Cincinnati *, Boise State, Virginia Tech, and BYU. I think they take Boise but you never know.

Sugar then has no choice and has to take Cincinnati.

I pretty much agree though I think Iowa goes to the Fiesta ahead of Penn St given they beat them in Happy Valley. I also think their contingency is better situated logistically.

If Pitt beats Cincy, I think the Orange may take Pitt over TCU and TCU goes to the Sugar v. Bama/Florida. If Cincy wins I think you're right about them going to the Sugar.

The Fiesta match-up between Boise and Iowa is quite intriguing; old v. new, power v. finesse, AQ v. non-AQ, etc.

Penn State delivers more eyeballs and have a larger fan base. The excuse will be that Iowa has had key injuries since that Happy Valley win.
